Task-free connectivity analyses have emerged as a powerful tool in functional neuroimaging. Because the cross-correlations that underlie connectivity measures are sensitive to distortion of time-series, here we used a novel dynamic phantom to provide a ground truth for dynamic fidelity between blood oxygen level dependent (BOLD)-like inputs and fMRI outputs. We found that the de facto quality-metric for task-free fMRI, temporal signal to noise ratio (tSNR), correlated inversely with dynamic fidelity; thus, studies optimized for tSNR actually produced time-series that showed the greatest distortion of signal dynamics. Instead, the phantom showed that dynamic fidelity is reasonably approximated by a measure that, unlike tSNR, dissociates signal dynamics from scanner artifact. We then tested this measure, signal fluctuation sensitivity (SFS), against human resting-state data. As predicted by the phantom, SFS-and not tSNR-is associated with enhanced sensitivity to both local and long-range connectivity within the brain's default mode network.

Digital quantum simulation of cosmological particle creation with IBM quantum computers.

We use digital quantum computing to simulate the creation of particles in a dynamic spacetime. We consider a system consisting of a minimally coupled massive quantum scalar field in a spacetime undergoing homogeneous and isotropic expansion, transitioning from one stationary state to another through a brief inflationary period. We simulate two vibration modes, positive and negative for a given field momentum, by devising a quantum circuit that implements the time evolution.

Polymerases erroneously incorporate Guanine-Thymine (dG•dT) mismatches in genomic DNA that further evades repair by transient sampling of tautomeric/ionic states compromising fidelity of repairing dG•dT mismatches. In conjunction, significant frequency of ribose (mis)incorporation in duplex DNA permits for misincorporated-mismatch in the genome. Ribose incorporated G(rG) mismatched with T(rG•dT) is the most stable across all misincorporated-mismatch calling into question the conformational consequences of the ribose sugar in addition to the mismatch.

The advancement of neural radiance fields (NeRFs) has facilitated the high-quality 3D reconstruction of complex scenes. However, for most NeRFs, reconstructing 3D tissues from endoscopy images poses significant challenges due to the occlusion of soft tissue regions by invalid pixels, deformations in soft tissue, and poor image quality, which severely limits their application in endoscopic scenarios. To address the above issues, we propose a novel framework to reconstruct high-fidelity soft tissue scenes from low-quality endoscopic images.

: Developing ex vivo models that replicate immune-tumor interactions with high fidelity is essential for advancing immunotherapy research, as traditional two-dimensional in vitro systems often lack the complexity required to fully represent these interactions. : In this study, we establish a comprehensive 3D redirect lysis (3D-RDL) assay using colorectal cancer spheroids and adult stem cell-derived, healthy human organoids to evaluate the efficacy and safety profile of , a bispecific antibody targeting carcinoembryonic antigens (CEAs) on cancer cells and CD3 on T cells. This model allows us to assess cytotoxic activity and immune responses, capturing variations in therapeutic response not observable in simpler systems.
