Carcinoma tonsil with visceral metastasis is a rare entity, and cutaneous metastasis is seen even more infrequently. We present a case of a 55-year-old male with carcinoma tonsil having received concurrent chemo radiotherapy, presenting with multiple cutaneous metastases to the scalp and thigh. To the best of our knowledge, till date only two similar cases of carcinoma tonsil with cutaneous metastasis have been reported in the English literature.

Background: Dermatomyositis is a chronic inflammatory condition affecting muscles and skin, often associated with an increased risk of cancer. Specific autoantibodies, including anti-TIF1 (Transcription Intermediary Factor 1), have been linked to this risk. We present a case of dermatomyositis in a male patient positive for anti-TIF1 antibodies, subsequently diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the tonsil, a novel association not previously documented.

Thirteen retrospective studies, comprising 2623 patients, were analysed, revealing an overall pooled SCTC prevalence of 4%, rising to 10% in HNSCCUP cases. HPV/p16 positivity was associated with SCTC prevalence of 3%, while HPV/p16 negativity was greater at 8%.

Introduction: Choroidal metastases from systemic malignancies are the most common intraocular malignancies in adults. Objective: Prophylactic ligation of the external carotid artery (ECA) during oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) resection is known to reduce severe postoperative oropharyngeal bleeding events, however, there is limited research on whether bleed rates vary between selective ligation of individual vessels or total ligation of the ECA. This study assesses outcomes related to total versus selective ligation of the ECA in patients who underwent transoral resection for OPSCC of the base of tongue or palatine tonsils.
Study Design: Retrospective review.
