We present the theoretical study of a coupled cavity system yielding a Fano response on a fully on-chip silicon platform hybridized with an electro-optic polymer. This novel Fano system is based on a slot waveguide Bragg grating geometry, enabling a huge enhancement of the electro-optic properties due to slow light effects at the resonance. The modulator shows a high resonance tunability of 1.75 nm/V and a low switching power of 0.63 V. Such a versatile system shows the promise for various nonlinear and active devices only by using suitable cover material.

Flavor is the quintessential multisensory experience, combining gustatory, retronasal olfactory, and texture qualities to inform food perception and consumption behavior. However, the computations that govern multisensory integration of flavor components and their underlying neural mechanisms remain elusive. Here, we use rats as a model system to test the hypothesis that taste and smell components of flavor are integrated in a reliability-dependent manner to inform hedonic judgments and that this computation is performed by neurons in the primary taste cortex.

Background: Daratumumab-refractory multiple myeloma (Dara-R MM) presents a significant treatment challenge. This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy and survival outcomes of elotuzumab, pomalidomide, and dexamethasone (EloPd) in a large, real-world cohort of patients with Dara-R MM, with particular focus on progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS).
Materials And Methods: This retrospective analysis included 247 Dara-R MM patients treated with EloPd.

We propose two types of structures to achieve the control of Fano and electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) line shapes, in which dual one-dimensional (1D) photonic crystal nanobeam cavities (PCNCs) are side-coupled to a bus waveguide with different gaps. For the proposed type Ⅰ and type Ⅱ systems, the phase differences between the nanobeam periodic structures of the two cavities are and 0, respectively. The whole structures are theoretically analyzed via the coupled mode theory and numerically demonstrated using the three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain (3D FDTD) method.

Biosensors operating in the terahertz (THz) region are gaining substantial interest in biomedical analysis due to their significant potential for high-sensitivity trace-amount solution detection. However, progress in compact, high-sensitivity chips and methods for simple, rapid and trace-level measurements is limited by the spatial resolution of THz waves and their strong absorption in polar solvents. In this work, a compact nonlinear optical crystal (NLOC)-based reflective THz biosensor with a few arrays of asymmetrical meta-atoms was developed.
