We show theoretically that the periodically corrugated surface of a high-index dielectric medium can support a leaky surface electromagnetic wave. This wave is bound to the surface in the vacuum, but radiates into the dielectric. Despite this radiative damping, the surface wave can have a long lifetime.

The holographic technique is one of the simplest methods for designing antennas based on metasurface. This paper presents a spoof surface plasmon polariton (SSPP) leaky-wave antenna (LWA) based on the concept of impedance modulated metasurfaces by the anisotropic holographic technique. Instead of parasitic elements, anisotropic SSPP elements are exploited to achieve radiation with circular polarization.

Corneal endothelium cells (CECs) regulate corneal hydration between the leaky barrier of the corneal endothelium and the ionic pumps on the surface of CECs. As CECs do not regenerate, loss of CECs leads to poor vision and corneal blindness. Corneal transplant is the only treatment option; however, there is a severe shortage of donor corneas globally.

Atomic-layer-deposited (ALD) "leaky" TiO has gained interest as a charge-selective protection layer for semiconductor solar fuel electrodes. Here, the use of sputter-deposited TiO layers as hole-selective contacts for WO/CuWO type-2 heterojunction water oxidation photoanodes is demonstrated for the first time. TiO protection layers with varying thicknesses (2 to 128 nm) were deposited by using the radio frequency (RF) magnetron sputtering technique.

Intestinal mucins play a crucial role in the mucosal barrier, serving as the body's initial defense against microorganisms. However, how the host regulates the secretion and glycosylation of these mucins in response to bacterial invasion remains unclear. Our study demonstrates that when exposed to (), a gut pathobiont, the host mucosa promptly adjusts the behavior of specialized goblet cells (GCs) located in the middle of the crypts.

The microbiome connects the gut health to the rest of the body's organs, including the skin. The pathophysiology of intestinal dysbiosis leads to the expression "leaky gut." Ongoing speculations are aimed at restoring the gut microbiota via modulating lifestyle habits to prevent and potentially reverse autoimmunity.
