Diffuse-type tenosynovial giant cell tumor (dTGCT) is a destructive but rare benign proliferative synovial neoplasm. Although surgery is currently the main treatment modality for dTGCT, the recurrence risk is up to 50%. Therefore, there is a great need for effective drugs against dTGCT with minor side effects.

Therapeutic alliance during trauma focused treatment in adolescent and young adult patients with PTSD.

BMC Psychiatry

January 2025

Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy, Institute of Psychology, Goethe University Frankfurt, Varrentrappstr. 40-42, 60486, Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

Background: Greater therapeutic alliance has been associated with an improved treatment outcome in various clinical populations. However, there is a lack of evidence for this association in posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) in young patients. We therefore investigated the development of the therapeutic alliance during Developmentally adapted cognitive processing therapy (D-CPT) in adolescents and young adults with PTSD following abuse to answer the question whether there was a connection between the therapeutic alliance and symptom reduction.

Enhancing representation of special populations: An approach to the inclusion of women veterans in VA clinical trials.

Contemp Clin Trials

January 2025

VA HSR Center for Innovation to Implementation (Ci2i), VA Palo Alto Health Care System, Palo Alto, CA, USA; Division of Primary Care and Population Health, Stanford University School of Medicine, Stanford, CA, USA.

The under-recruitment of historically marginalized populations into clinical trials thwarts equitable inclusion of individuals who could benefit from healthcare innovations and limits the generalizability of results. For decades, the Veterans Health Administration (VA) has conducted large clinical trials that impact clinical guidelines for veterans and civilians alike. Within the VA, women are a numeric minority, and recruitment of this population into trials is challenged by gender-specific care structures, distinct demographic characteristics, and mistreatment such as higher rates of military sexual trauma and harassment on VA grounds.
