Methods: The study was conducted among surgically treated patients for thyroid disorders using a retrospective cross-sectional study design by reviewing all patients' charts.

A 40-year-old African-American man was referred to our dermatology clinic for management of his long-standing thyroid dermopathy. The patient was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism at the age of 20, and was treated with radioactive iodine I-131 but subsequently lost to follow-up. He had not consulted physicians again until the age of 30.

Forgotten goiter is a residual thyroid mass left after total thyroidectomy, an event already depicted in the literature. Clinical presentation is diverse, ranging from asymptomatic tracheal deviation to symptoms caused by hormonally active thyroid tissue or airway obstruction due to mass effect.
