Purpose: Intestinal ischemia-reperfusion injury (IIRI) occurs as a result of temporary blood flow interruption, leading to tissue damage upon reperfusion. Oxidative stress plays a critical role in this process, instigating inflammation and cell death. Identifying and characterizing genes associated with the oxidative stress response can offer valuable insights into potential therapeutic targets for managing IIRI.

Background: Painful hemiplegic shoulder (PHS) is a prevalent and challenging complication following a stroke and can significantly impair a patient's engagement in rehabilitation, leading to poorer functional outcomes and extended hospital stays. This retrospective cohort study aims to investigate the incidence, etiology, and management of PHS in stroke inpatients, focusing on the effectiveness of various therapeutic interventions.
Methods: We conducted a retrospective analysis of subacute stroke inpatients who developed PHS during rehabilitation at a single center.

Herein, we present a rare case of oral candidiasis, with CREST syndrome. The patient presented with xerostomia, tongue erythema, and burning pain.

Splenic infarction with infectious mononucleosis (IM) caused by Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) has been reported as a rare complication of IM. The monospot test, often used to diagnose EBV-related IM, may produce false-negative results, especially in atypical presentations or early stages of infection. This report describes the case of a monospot-negative patient who developed splenic infarction as a complication of IM.
