We report the case of a 24 year old patient being diagnosed with scrotal schwannoma initially presenting at age 9. To our knowledge, this is the first case with such an early onset. The patient underwent an uncomplicated surgical excision. We are also reviewing the literature on scrotal schwannoma.

Introduction: The cytology features of neoplastic paratesticular lesions are mostly documented as case reports. Thus, we conducted a case report-based literature review to identify the characteristics of paratesticular neoplasms and tried to determine the significance of FNAC in these tumors.
Methods And Materials: The studies were searched using PubMed and Scopus.

Scrotal tumors of nerve origin are extremely rare and occur mostly in the extratesticular tissues of scrotum, such as the spermatic cord and epididymis. A systematic search of the literature in PubMed, Medline, and Google Scholar databases concerning intrascrotal nerve tumors was performed by 2 independent investigators. The systematic search retrieved 45 male adults, with a mean age of included patients at 43.

Schwannomas are benign tumors arising from Schwann cells, which compose the myelin sheath covering peripheral nerves. Although schwannomas can develop in various locations throughout the human body, the scrotum is a rare site for development of a schwannoma. Furthermore, to the best of our knowledge, no study to date has focused on the detailed imaging findings of intrascrotal schwannoma.

Background: Schwannoma, also known as neurinoma, is the most common tumor of the peripheral nerves. Intrascrotal extratesticular schwannoma, which is not associated with schwannomatosis and neurofibromatosis-2, is a very rare entity, and few cases have been reported in the literature. In this paper, we have reported a case of extratesticular schwannoma, an extremely rare cause of scrotal mass, with ultrasound (US) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings.
