Hibernation is a necessary means for animals to maintain survival while coping with low temperatures and food shortages. While most studies have largely focused on mammalian hibernation, its reptilian equivalent has been less studied. In order to provide insights into the energy metabolism and potential microbial regulatory mechanisms in hibernating snakes, the serum, liver, gut content samples were measured by multi-omic methods.

Background: SL-172154 is a hexameric fusion protein adjoining the extracellular domain of SIRPα to the extracellular domain of CD40L via an inert IgG-derived Fc domain. In preclinical studies, a murine equivalent SIRPα-Fc-CD40L fusion protein provided superior antitumor immunity in comparison to CD47- and CD40-targeted antibodies. A first-in-human phase I trial of SL-172154 was conducted in patients with platinum-resistant ovarian cancer.

Background: Despite new modern surgical techniques, no short-term functional differences have been demonstrated between operative and non-operative treatment for acute acromio-clavicular (AC) dislocations Rockwood III-V. Few studies describe the long-term clinical and radiological results of these lesions. We aim to compare the one- and ten-year outcome of patients either treated non-operatively or with hook plate fixation for Rockwood III AC lesions.

Amphibian skin is a rich source of molecules with biotechnological potential, including the tryptophyllin family of peptides. Here, we report the identification and characterization of two tryptophyllin peptides, FPPEWISR and FPWLLS-NH, from the skin of the Central Dwarf Frog, Physalaemus centralis. These peptides were identified through cDNA cloning and sequence comparison.
