Regenerative medicine (RM) is an emerging field using human-derived cells and tissues (HCT). Due to the complexity and diversity of HCT products, each country has its own regulations for authorization and no common method has been applied to date. Individual regulations were previously clarified at the level of statutes but no direct comparison has been reported at the level of guidelines. Here, we generated a new analytical framework that allows comparison of guidelines independent from local definitions of RM, using 2 indicators, product type and information type. The guidelines for products for repair and replacement of knee cartilage in Japan, the United States of America, and Europe were compared and differences were detected in both product type and information type by the proposed analytical framework. Those findings will be critical not only for the product developers to determine the region to initiate the clinical trials but also for the regulators to assess and build their regulations. This analytical framework is potentially expandable to other RM guidelines to identify gaps, leading to trigger discussion of global harmonization in RM regulations.

An interpretable machine learning (ML) framework is introduced to enhance the diagnosis of Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and Alzheimer's disease (AD) by ensuring robustness of the ML models' interpretations. The dataset used comprises volumetric measurements from brain MRI and genetic data from healthy individuals and patients with MCI/AD, obtained through the Alzheimer's Disease Neuroimaging Initiative. The existing class imbalance is addressed by an ensemble learning approach, while various attribution-based and counterfactual-based interpretability methods are leveraged towards producing diverse explanations related to the pathophysiology of MCI/AD.

A new difunctional recognition and nanocatalytic probe of copper metal-organic framework surface molecularly imprinted polyethyleneimine (CuMOF@MIP) was prepared by microwave procedure, using tert-butylhydroquinone (TBHQ) as the template molecule, CuMOF as the nanosubstrate and polyethyleneimine (PEI) as the functional monomer. The experimental results demonstrate that the CuMOF@MIP nanoprobes exhibit strong catalysis of acrylic acid reduction of silver nitrate to produce silver nanoparticles (AgNP) with surface plasmon resonance Rayleigh scattering (RRS) effect at 330 nm. The new nanocatalytic amplification indicator reaction was studied by RRS and coupled with the recognition function to develop a catalytic analysis strategy.

High performance adsorbents are crucial for improving the efficiency of sample pretreatment and ensuring the accuracy and precision of analytical results. In this study, covalent organic framework COF-SCU1 was modified with metal-organic framework ZIF-8 for efficient extraction of toxic basic dyes in food. The prepared COF-SCU1@ZIF-8 exhibited improved dispersibility and more surface negative charges compared to COF-SCU1, thereby showing enhanced adsorption performance for auramine O, rhodamine B, basic orange 21, basic orange 22 and methylene blue.

Driver drowsiness significantly contributes to road accidents worldwide, and timely prediction of driver reaction time is crucial for developing effective advanced driver assistance systems. In this paper, we present an EEG-based prediction framework that investigates the impact of different pre-stimulus time windows, frequency band combinations, and channel groups on driver reaction time estimation using data from a 90-minute sustained attention driving task. Our systematic evaluation using a publicly available dataset of 24 drivers reveals that a 2-second pre-stimulus window yields the lowest prediction error.
