Aims: Glucosamine, a widely used dietary supplement, has been linked to potential cardiovascular risks, including atrial fibrillation (AF). This study aimed to investigate the effects of long-term glucosamine supplementation on AF susceptibility and the underlying mechanisms.
Materials And Methods: C57BL/6 J mice were treated with low-dose (15 mg/kg/day) or high-dose (250 mg/kg/day) glucosamine via drinking water for 6 weeks.

Background -Smoking is associated with arrhythmia and sudden cardiac death, but the biological mechanisms remain unclear. In electrocardiogram (ECG) recordings abnormal durations of ventricular repolarization (QT interval), atrial depolarization (P wave), and atrioventricular depolarization (PR interval and segment), predict cardiac arrhythmia and mortality. Previous analyses of the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database for associations between smoking and ECG abnormalities were incomplete.

Background: Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) is associated with left atrial (LA) dyfunction, which may contribute to adverse cardiovascular outcomes. This study investigates the predictive value of lately identified morphology-voltage-P wave duration electrocardiography (MVP ECG) score for detecting early LA dysfunction in COPD patients.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 101 COPD patients were enrolled.

Background: The impact of androgens on metabolic diseases, cardiovascular diseases (CVD), and long-term mortality in the general female population remains poorly understood. This study, utilizing data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database managed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, seeks to elucidate the relationship between androgen levels and metabolic syndrome (MS), CVD, and mortality in adult women.
Methods: After excluding ineligible individuals, descriptive analyses were conducted on demographic characteristics, metabolic-related indicators, and disease prevalence, based on the presence of high androgenemia and androgen quartile grouping.

Background: The atrial electroanatomic substrate is an essential component in the pathogenesis of atrial fibrillation (AF). However, the electrophysiological markers of susceptible atria for AF are not well-characterized. This study aimed to assess atrial conduction indices on surface electrocardiogram (ECG) and intracardiac electrogram (EGM) as predictors of initiation and recurrence of AF after successful ablation.
