The esthetic management of enamel dysplasia presents an opportunity for the practitioner to integrate expertise in diagnosis, biomaterials, and technique. In addition to considerations of appearance, careful attention must be paid to occlusal function and restorative material properties. This case report highlights a combined approach of conservative lithium disilicate indirect restorations and composite resin direct veneers to electively restore the anterior teeth of a patient diagnosed with idiopathic enamel hypoplasia.

Objectives: The cerebral cortex contains neurons that play a pivotal role in controlling rhythmic masticatory jaw movements. However, the population characteristics of individual cortical neuronal activity during mastication and the impact of tooth loss on these characteristics remain unclear. Thus, in this study, we aimed to determine the activity patterns of mastication-related motor cortical neurons elicited during mastication and examine the effects of tooth extraction on neuronal activity using two-photon Ca imaging in head-restrained awake mice.

Introduction: Guided surgery for immediate anterior implants aims to reduce the time required for aesthetic and functional immediate loading. However, the limited surface area of anterior teeth for guide stabilization may affect the accuracy of implant positioning. This in vitro study evaluated the effect of the number of supporting teeth on the accuracy of immediate implants in the maxillary central incisor region.

Placing an implant immediately into extraction sockets provides a distinct advantage over delayed placement, eliminating the need for a 4 to 6 months waiting period for bone formation. However, when patients present with hypothyroidism, the feasibility of immediate placement of dental implants becomes uncertain. This case involved a hypothyroid woman in her late 60s with loose lower anterior teeth.

Marginal enamel fractures (MEF) are a common clinical concern in dentistry, particularly in anterior teeth. These fractures occur at the enamel margins and their etiopathogenesis involves a complex interplay of mechanical, chemical, and biological factors. The ongoing research focuses on an overview of MEF to improve the knowledge about this condition.
