Salient object detection has been a rather hot research topic recently, due to its potential applications in image compression, scene classification, image registration, and so forth. The overwhelming majority of existing computational models are designed based on computer vision techniques by using lots of image cues and priors. Actually, salient object detection is derived from the biological perceptual mechanism, and biological evidence shows that the spread of the spatial attention generates the object attention. Inspired by this, we attempt to utilize the emerging spread mechanism of object attention to construct a new computational model. A novel Cauchy graph embedding based diffusion (CGED) model is proposed to fulfill the spread process. Combining the diffusion model and attention prediction model, a salient object detection approach is presented through perceptually grouping the multiscale diffused attention maps. The effectiveness of the proposed approach is validated on the salient object dataset. The experimental results show that the CGED process can obviously improve the performance of salient object detection compared with the input spatial attention map, and the proposed approach can achieve performance comparable to that of state-of-the-art approaches.

The function of zebra stripes has long puzzled biologists: contrasted and conspicuous colours are unusual in mammals. The puzzle appears solved: two lines of evidence indicate that they evolved as a protection against biting flies, the geographical coincidence of stripes and exposure to trypanosomiasis in Africa and field experiments showing flies struggling to navigate near zebras. A logical mechanistic explanation would be that stripes interfere with flies' analysis of the optic flow; however, both spatio-temporal aliasing and the aperture effect seem ruled out following recent experiments showing that randomly checked patterns also interfere with flies' capacity to navigate near zebras.

Our attention can sometimes be disrupted by salient but irrelevant objects in the environment. This distractor interference can be reduced when distractors appear frequently, allowing us to anticipate their presence. However, it remains unknown whether distractor frequency can be learned implicitly across distinct contexts.

As the global economy expands, waterway transportation has become increasingly crucial to the logistics sector. This growth presents both significant challenges and opportunities for enhancing the accuracy of ship detection and tracking through the application of artificial intelligence. This article introduces a multi-object tracking system designed for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), utilizing the YOLOv7 and Deep SORT algorithms for detection and tracking, respectively.

RGB-T salient object detection (SOD) has received considerable attention in the field of computer vision. Although existing methods have achieved notable detection performance in certain scenarios, challenges remain. Many methods fail to fully utilize high-frequency and low-frequency features during information interaction among different scale features, limiting detection performance.

Based on the literature indicating that emotional abuse erodes children's secure attachment bonds, this study aimed to examine a mediation model positing that insecure attachment (anxious and/or avoidant styles) would mediate the association between childhood emotional abuse and rejection sensitivity (rejection and acceptance expectancies), which, in turn, will be associated with a fear of intimacy. One hundred and eighty members of the Israeli public aged 21-30 who were in relationships participated in the study. The results showed that avoidant and anxious attachment mediated the relationship between childhood emotional abuse and a fear of intimacy, acceptance expectancy mediated the relationship between avoidant and anxious attachment and a fear of intimacy, anxious attachment mediated the relationship between childhood emotional abuse and both rejection and acceptance expectancies, and avoidant attachment mediated the relationship between childhood emotional abuse and acceptance expectancy.
