A generalized phase-shifting method for three-wave shearing interferometry is proposed. The phase-shifting algorithm is derived by an optimal process based on least-squares fitting. With this generalized algorithm, the steps of phase-shifting can be reduced to five, which greatly simplifies the measurement and decreases the burden of computation. Both the numerical simulation and the optical experiment are carried out to demonstrate the adaptability of the method.

Transmission matrix measurements of multimode fibers are now routinely performed in numerous laboratories, enabling control of the electric field at the distal end of the fiber and paving the way for the potential application to ultrathin medical endoscopes with high resolution. The same concepts are applicable to other areas, such as space division multiplexing, targeted power delivery, fiber laser performance, and the general study of the mode coupling properties of the fiber. However, the process of building an experimental setup and developing the supporting code to measure the fiber's transmission matrix remains challenging and time consuming, with full details on experimental design, data collection, and supporting algorithms spread over multiple papers or lacking in detail.

Purpose: Patients with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) are at high risk for breast cancer recurrence and metastatic disease, yet the scholarly literature on the distress and uncertainty of this vulnerable population is limited. This study aimed to characterize the experiences of patients with TNBC and obtain feedback about the development of a supportive care intervention targeted to this population's psychosocial needs.
Methods: From 9/2021 to 2/2023, we purposefully recruited 23 patients with stage I-III TNBC who recently completed curative therapy and conducted a parallel mixed qualitative and quantitative study.
As a low-cost professional digital light projection device, the DLP4500 have been widely applied in fringe projection profilometry (FPP), for both laboratory and practical application. However, our recent experiments revealed a new hardware-induced projection instability when the projection pattern data exceeds its buffer capacity (48 bits). This phenomenon undermines the measurement accuracy advantage of the phase-shifting (PS) algorithms with large number of shifting steps, and eventually leads unwanted and complicated error to 3D reconstruction.

While the Fourier transform method has a shorter imaging time, it typically results in lower image quality; in contrast, the phase-shifting method offers higher image quality but is more time-consuming and involves a higher radiation dose. To rapidly reconstruct low-dose X-ray phase contrast images, this study developed a model based on Generative Adversarial Networks (GAN), incorporating custom layers and self-attention mechanisms to recover high-quality phase contrast images.

Phase-shifting speckle interferometry could achieve full-field deformation measurement of rough surfaces. To meet the dynamic requirement and further improve the accuracy, a two-step synchronous phase-shifting measurement system is established based on the polarization-sensitive phase modulation ability of a liquid crystal spatial light modulator; by multiplexing the reference wavefront, an accurate phase shift is generated between two independent recording channels, and a common-path self-reference vortex interference structure is built for precise spatial registration. Meanwhile, according to the speckle statistical principle, a novel two-frame phase-shifting algorithm as well as a two-step spatial registration strategy is presented to strengthen the robustness of intensity and position differences caused by spatial-multiplexing; thereby, accurate transient deformation can be directly obtained from phase-shifting speckle interferograms recorded before and after deformation.
