The coincidence or causal incidence of hormonal dysregulation leading to psychotic manifestation had been a point of debate. The interplay of these hormones in pathogenesis of psychotic symptom domains is still inconclusive along with some symptom domains which worsen with antipsychotics. Early detection and treatment with liaison approach is of great help to such patients. We report a case of schizophrenia with primary hypogonadism that responded dramatically to add on testosterone supplement.

Background: Prenatal exposure to high levels of testosterone affects the development of the brain. The purpose of this study was to compare the mothers of children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and those of healthy children in terms of the digit ratio (2D:4D). It also examines the relationship between ADHD symptoms and the 2D:4D in mothers.

Boldenone and Testosterone Production from Phytosterol via One-Pot Cascade Biotransformations.

J Fungi (Basel)

Testosterone (TS) and its 1(2)-dehydrogenated derivative boldenone (BD) are widely used in medicine, veterinary science and as precursors in organic synthesis of many therapeutic steroids. Green production of these compounds is possible from androstenedione (AD) enzymatically, or from phytosterol (PS) using fermentation stages. In this study, the ascomycete sp.

Klinefelter syndrome (KS, 47,XXY) is a common sex chromosome aneuploidy in males that is characterized by pubertal developmental delays and a wide range of alterations in cognitive, social and emotional functioning. The neural bases of these behavioral symptoms, however, are unclear. A total of 130 boys and adolescents, including 67 males with KS (11.

Testosterone plays important roles in reproductive behaviour in many species. Despite a common belief that testosterone regulates fluctuations in human sexual desire, there is little direct evidence that relates within-person changes in natural testosterone production to within-person changes in sexual desire. Here, we measured daily salivary testosterone concentrations from 41 adult men for one month, along with daily self-reports of sexual desire ( = 759 observations for the main analyses).

Endocrine-Disruptive Effects of Adenylate Cyclase Activator Forskolin: In Vitro and In Vivo Evidence.

Toxics

September 2024

MOE Laboratory for Earth Surface Processes, College of Urban and Environmental Sciences, Peking University, Beijing 100871, China.

Forskolin (FSK) is a potent adenylate cyclase activator and may display endocrine-disruptive effects via the disruption of steroidogenesis. Here, we tested this hypothesis by use of the in vitro H295R steroidogenesis assay and the in vivo long-term medaka () exposure assay. The results from the H295R assay demonstrated that the transcriptional levels of a series of genes involved in steroidogenesis, including , , , , , and , were remarkably up-regulated.
