Degenerate two-photon absorption (2PA) of a series of organic fluorophores is measured using femtosecond fluorescence excitation method in the wavelength range, λ = 680-1050 nm, and ~100 MHz pulse repetition rate. The function of relative 2PA spectral shape is obtained with estimated accuracy 5%, and the absolute 2PA cross section is measured at selected wavelengths with the accuracy 8%. Significant improvement of the accuracy is achieved by means of rigorous evaluation of the quadratic dependence of the fluorescence signal on the incident photon flux in the whole wavelength range, by comparing results obtained from two independent experiments, as well as due to meticulous evaluation of critical experimental parameters, including the excitation spatial- and temporal pulse shape, laser power and sample geometry. Application of the reference standards in nonlinear transmittance measurements is discussed.

Innovative double-emission carbon dots (DE-CDs) were synthesized via a one-step hydrothermal method using fennel and m-phenylenediamine (m-PD) as precursors. These DE-CDs exhibited dual emission wavelengths at 432 and 515 nm under different excitations, making them highly versatile for fluorescence-based applications. The fluorescence of the DE-CDs was efficiently quenched by tetracycline (TC) through the inner filter effect (IFE), allowing for the construction of a sensitive dual-response fluorescent sensor.

Lignin, a biomass-derived material containing chromophores, possesses the potential to serve as a versatile organic ultraviolet (UV) light screening agent. By employing quantum chemical computation techniques, an amphoteric deep eutectic solvent (DES) based on sulfamic acid was purposefully designed and engineered to create a solvent system tailored for the nanoparticle formation and functionalization of lignin. As confirmed by experimental evidence, the size of the modified lignin nanoparticles (LNPs) varies from 168.

Within the scope of this study, a polymer-based optical sensor that can polymerize under UV radiation and produce fluorescence when suitable functional monomers and crosslinkers were prepared for aluminum determination in yogurt, soybean flour, and meat samples. Parameters such as operating range, pH, sensitivity, selectivity, determination limit, and foreign ion effect were thoroughly investigated to validate the developed method and characterize this polymer-based membrane. The designed sensor has wavelengths of 322 nm for fluorescence excitation and 356 nm for emission, respectively.

Pneumonia is a prevalent acute respiratory infection and a major cause of mortality and hospitalization, and the urgent demand for a rapid, direct, and highly accurate diagnostic method capable of detecting both () and () arises from their prominent roles as the primary pathogens responsible for pneumonia. Herein, two luminescent iridium complexes with nonoverlapping photoluminescence spectra, iridium(III)-bis [4,6-(difluorophenyl)-pyridinato-N,C'] picolinate (abbreviated as Ir-B) and bis (2-(3,5- dimethylphenyl) quinoline-C2,N') (acetylacetonato) iridium(III)) (abbreviated as Ir-R), were unprecedently proposed to construct a novel wavelength-resolved magnetic multiplex biosensor for simultaneous detection of and based on catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA) signal amplification strategy combined with dye-doped silica nanoparticles. Notably, the proposed wavelength-resolved multiplex biosensor not only exhibits a broad linear range from 50 pM to 10 nM but also demonstrates excellent recovery rates for (96.

Chiral plasmonic nanomaterials with fascinating physical and chemical properties show emerging chirality-dependent applications in photonics, catalysis, and sensing. The capability to precisely manipulate the plasmonic chirality in a broad spectral range plays a crucial role in enabling the applications of chiral nanomaterials in diverse and complex scenarios; however, it remains a challenge yet to be addressed. Here we demonstrate a strategy to significantly enhance the tunability of circular dichroism (CD) spectra of chiral nanomaterials by constructing core-shell hybrid metal-semiconductor structures with tailored shells.
