Cold stress in winter is one of the most severe abiotic stresses on plant growth and flourishing, and the selection of cold tolerant genotypes is an important strategy to ensure the safety of plant growth and development. Cyclocarya paliurus, a diclinous and versatile tree species originally in subtropical regions, has been introduced and cultivated in the warm temperate zone of China to meet the increasing market demand for its leaf yield. Alum, an essential additive in sweet potato vermicelli (SPV) production, is harmful to health. To eliminate the harm to the human body caused by alum in sweet potato vermicelli, and considering the different viscous properties of gliadin fractions, an experiment was performed to replace alum with gliadin fractions to enhance the boiling resistance of SPV in this study. This study investigated the effects of pigskin gelatin hydrolysates (PGH, 4 %) as a cryoprotectant on the formation of advanced glycation end-products (AGEs) in pre-heated pork subjected to freeze-thaw cycles and subsequent reheating. The cryopreservation of human spermatozoa is an integral part of cryobiology, aiming to support the in-vitro fertilization. The latter relies on the availability of as much as possible reproductively active spermatozoa, whose number after thawing decreases due to the accompanied freezing injury and the cytotoxicity of cryoprotectants. An innovative option to circumvent these obstacles is to make the freezing interface non-wettable, by coating it with rapeseed oil soot possessing intrinsic cryoprotective properties, delaying the ice formation and possibly providing identical rates of intracellular dehydration and extracellular crystallization.
