Using the rigorous Green's function spectral method, we systematically investigate the scattering resonances of different types of Vogel spiral arrays of point-like scatterers. By computing the distributions of eigenvalues of the Green's matrix and the corresponding eigenvectors, we obtain important physical information on the spatial nature of the optical modes, their lifetimes and spatial patterns, at small computational cost and for large-scale systems. Finally, we show that this method can be extended to the study of three-dimensional Vogel aperiodic metamaterials and aperiodic photonic structures that may exhibit a richer spectrum of localized resonances of direct relevance to the engineering of novel optical light sources and sensing devices.

The development of resistance to traditional antifungal therapies has necessitated the exploration of alternative treatment strategies to effectively manage fungal infections, particularly those induced by (). This research investigates the possibility of integrating silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) with Terbinafine to improve antifungal effectiveness. Terbinafine, while potent, faces challenges with specific fungal strains, highlighting the need for strategies to enhance its treatment efficacy.

A review of natural materials that exhibit negative permittivity or permeability, including gaseous plasma, metals, superconductors, and ferromagnetic materials, is presented. It is shown that samples made of such materials can store large amount of the electric (magnetic) energy and create plasmonic resonators for certain values of permittivity, permeability, and dimensions. The electric and the magnetic plasmon resonances in spherical samples made of such materials are analyzed using rigorous electrodynamic methods, and the results of the analysis are compared to experimental data and to results obtained with other methods.

A Hz level narrow linewidth all-optical microwave oscillator based on the torsional radial acoustic modes (TR) of a single-mode fiber (SMF) is proposed and validated. The all-optical microwave oscillator consists of a 20 km SMF main ring cavity and a 5 km SMF sub ring cavity. The main ring cavity provides forward stimulated Brillouin scattering gain and utilizes a nonlinear polarization rotation effect to achieve TR mode locking.

A water-soluble polysaccharide from foxtail millet (FM-D1) was isolated and purified through gradient ethanol precipitation and column chromatography. Size-Exclusion Chromatography-Multi-Angle Light Scattering-Refractive Index (SEC-MALLS-RI) and high-performance anion-exchange chromatography (HPAEC) analyses revealed that FM-D1 constitutes a highly purified neutral polysaccharide exclusively composed of glucose as the sugar unit, with a molecular weight of 14.823 kDa.

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) is an analytical technique capable of detecting trace amounts of specific species. The uniqueness of vibrational signatures is a major advantage of SERS. This combination of sensitivity and specificity has motivated researchers to develop diverse analytical methodologies leveraging SERS.
