Unlabelled: The congenital unilateral agenesis of pulmonary artery is a congenital cardiovascular anomaly rarely seen in adulthood. A 21-year-old asymptomatic male was admitted to our hospital to obtain a routine health report to accompany a job application. Posteroanterior chest radiograph revealed a mediastinal shift to the left, with increased radiopacity in the left lung and increased radiolucency in the right lung. Thoracoabdominal computed tomography revealed hypoplasia of the left pulmonary artery. Transthoracic echocardiography excluded any accompanying cardiac abnormalities. Pulmonary angiography was undertaken and confirmed diffuse hypoplasia of the left pulmonary artery while right pulmonary artery was significantly enlarged. The patient's pulmonary artery pressure was within the normal limits, after which he decided to be carefully followed-up.

Key Words: Cardiovascular anomaly; Hypoplasia; Pulmonary artery.

Chest pain is one of the most common chief complaints seen in both the emergency department (ED) and primary care settings.1,2 It is estimated that 20-40% of the general population will suffer from chest pain at some point throughout their lives.3 Interestingly although obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD) prevalence has declined, chest pain as a presenting symptom has become increasingly common over the last decade.

We present a case of spontaneous hemorrhage in an emphysematous bulla, complicated by anticoagulation. Bullous emphysema is a well-recognized complication of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and a rare manifestation is hemorrhage into preexisting pulmonary bullae. A 69-year-old male patient presented to the emergency department with hemoptysis, shortness of breath, and productive cough.

Spontaneous regression in breast cancer is rare but can dramatically improve patient prognosis. Although the underlying mechanism is unknown, it may be due to a biological response to external invasion. An 81-year-old woman presented to our emergency department with a 600x100mm large breast mass.

Prognostic implication of right ventricular-pulmonary artery coupling in valvular heart disease.

Front Cardiovasc Med

Department of Ultrasound Medicine, Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan, China.

Valvular heart disease (VHD) leading to inadequate hemodynamic circulation is a major cause of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality worldwide. Right ventricular-pulmonary artery (RV-PA) coupling integrates the ability of RV contractility to adapt to increased pulmonary arterial afterload. If the right ventricle cannot adapt to the elevated afterload by increasing its contractile function, RV-PA uncoupling occurs.

Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA, USA.

Objective: Tetralogy of Fallot, pulmonary atresia, and major aortopulmonary collateral arteries are a complex congenital heart defect. For years, our program has recommended early single-stage midline unifocalization at three to six months of age. However, many patients are referred beyond six months.
