This study of a large series of victims of trauma to the cervicothoracic great vessels confirms the lethal potential of these injuries: more than half of victims of such injuries died. The optimal management of patients potentially harboring such vascular damage appears to include skilled prehospital resuscitation and rapid transport to a trauma center, a high index of diagnostic suspicion, a low threshold for the performance of contrast arteriography, aggressive surveillance for associated neurologic and aerodigestive tract injuries, and timely technical repair, including liberal indications for sternotomy or thoracotomy to assure vascular control.

Background And Objectives: The role of parents and the family in promoting children's oral health is increasingly acknowledged in the dental literature. This study aimed to investigate twelve-year changes in pre-schoolers' oral health and parental involvement in children's dental care using data from two repeated cross-sectional surveys. The objectives were (1) to assess the temporal changes in children's dental health status and oral health-related behaviours, (2) to examine temporal changes in parental attitudes toward their children's oral health care, and (3) to analyze the associations between observed changes.

Schistosomiasis is a significant public health threat, and Oncomelania hupensis is the only intermediate host for schistosoma japonicum. We conducted 12-year monthly repeated surveys to explore the interactive and lag effects of environmental factors on snail density and to monitor their long-term and seasonal trends in a bottomland around the Dongting Lake region in China. Relevant environmental data were obtained from multiple sources.

Winter wheat production is influenced by climate extremes worldwide. Heavy precipitation induced delay of sowing generates limited photothermal resources for wheat early growth. However, how wheat build resilience from stunted seedling growth has not been fully explored.

Objective: We assessed trends in socioeconomic inequalities in cardiovascular risk factors prevalence among Swiss adults from 2008 to 2019.
Methods: Using data from the Bus Santé study, an annual survey of adults living in Geneva, Switzerland, we calculated the prevalence per period and by demographic and socioeconomic indicators, assessing inequality trends using the relative index of inequality (RII) and the slope index of inequality (SII).
Results: Among 10,739 participants, most CVD risk factors decreased over time, while diabetes, obesity, and smoking prevalence remained steady.

Background And Aim: Currently, the relationship between dynamic changes in dietary manganese (Mn) intake and risk of hyperuricemia (HU) is still unclear. This study aimed to identify dietary Mn consumption trajectories in the Chinese adults and assess their relation with the risk of HU.
Methods And Results: Cohort data from the China Health and Nutrition Survey (CHNS) 1997-2009 were employed in this study.
