Flexible MgO barrier magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) devices are fabricated using a transfer printing process. The flexible MTJ devices yield significantly enhanced tunneling magnetoresistance of ≈300% and improved abruptness of switching, as residual strain in the MTJ structure is released during the transfer process. This approach could be useful for flexible electronic systems that require high-performance memory components.

Chitosan (CS) has excellent film-forming properties; unfortunately, its use as a film wound dressing is limited because of its weak mechanical properties, especially in its wet state. For this reason, modifications with different materials are investigated in this study. The aim of this work was the combination of chitosan with poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA), magnesium oxide nanoparticles (MgO), and glycerol as a plasticizer agent which can strengthen CS films, increase their flexibility, and enhance their resistance to microbes.

In this study, we investigate the behavior of carbon clusters (C, where ranges from 16 to 26) supported on the surface of MgO. We consider the impact of doping with common impurities (such as Si, Mn, Ca, Fe, and Al) that are typically found in ores. Our approach combines density functional theory calculations with machine learning force field molecular dynamics simulations.

To fulfill the requirements of environmental protection, a magnetically recoverable immobilized laccase has been developed for water pollutant treatment. In order to accomplish this objective, we propose a polydopamine-coated magnetic graphene material that addresses the challenges associated with accumulation caused by electrostatic interactions between graphene and enzyme molecules, which can lead to protein denaturation and inactivation. To achieve this, we present a polydopamine-coated magnetic graphene material that binds to the enzyme molecule through flexible spacer arms formed by ionic liquids.

Over the last years, solid-state electrolytes made of an ionic liquid (IL) confined in a solid (inorganic or polymer) matrix, also known as ionogels, have been proposed to solve the leakage problems occurring at high temperatures in classical electrical double-layer capacitors (EDLCs) with an organic electrolyte, and thereof improve the safety. However, making ionogel-based EDLCs perform with reasonable power at low temperature is still a major challenge due to the high melting point of the confined IL. To overcome these limitations, the present contribution discloses ionogel films prepared in a totally oxygen/moisture-free atmosphere by encapsulating 70 wt % of an equimolar mixture of 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide and 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate - [EMIm][BF][FSI] - into a poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVdF-HFP) network.
