A highly efficient synthesis of benzoimidazo[1,2-a]imidazolone through a novel oxidative 5-exo-dig cyclization-ketonization cascade of 2-aminobenzimidazole, aldehyde and terminal alkyne has been explored under aerobic conditions. The reaction proceeds through copper-catalyzed addition of terminal alkynes to imines derived from 2-aminobenzimidazole with aldehyde followed by intramolecular cyclization. The atmospheric molecular oxygen acts as an oxygen source for the newly formed carbonyl group in the final product.

Four distinct zeolitic imidazolate frameworks (ZIFs) are prepared using zinc and cobalt ions with 2-aminobenzimidazole and 2-methylimidazole as linkers to explore their electrochemical properties as platforms for aldehyde detection. The resulting ZIF-based sensors exhibit high sensitivity, low detection limits, and robust performance when applied to real-world samples.

Benzimidazole (BI) and its derivatives are interesting molecules in medicinal chemistry because several of these compounds have a diversity of biological activities and some of them are even used in clinical applications. In view of the importance of these compounds, synthetic chemists are still interested in finding new procedures for the synthesis of these classes of compounds. Astemizole (antihistaminic), Omeprazole (antiulcerative), and Rabendazole (fungicide) are important examples of compounds used in medicinal chemistry containing BI nuclei.

In this study, Pd(II)/TCH@SBA-15 nanocomposites were synthesized by the grafting of 3-chloropropyltriethoxysilane and thiocarbohydrazide on SBA-15 and subsequent deposition of palladium acetates through the ligand-metal coordination method. The structure and morphology of this nanoporous nanocomposite was thoroughly identified by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, atomic absorption spectroscopy, and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller instrumental analyses. Furthermore, the catalytic activity of this nanocomposite was investigated in the three-component synthesis of 3-benzimidazolyl or benzothiazoleyl-1,3-thiazolidin-4-ones a reaction of 2-aminobenzimidazole or 2-aminobenzothiazole, aromatic aldehydes, and thioglycolic acid in an acetone-HO mixture under green conditions.

Introduction: Green algae seriously affect the quality and yield of Torreya grandis, it is important to explore new, environmentally friendly ways to control it.
Objectives: The present study aimed at preparing sustained-release algae-killing nanocapsules without pollution to the environment.
Methods: In this work, sodium carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), sodium alginate (SA), and chitosan (CTS) were used as raw materials in acylation reaction with the photosensitive catalytic material iron octaaminophthalocyanine (T) to generate the photoactive bio-based materials T-CMC, T-SA, and T-CMCS.
In this investigation, a nanoporous zeolite-NaY supported sulfonic acid was synthesized and Ni(ii) ions were successfully stabilized on SOH@zeolite-Y (Ni/SOH@zeolite-Y). This novel type of zeolitic nanocomposite was characterized using various techniques including FT-IR, FE-SEM, TGA, BET and EDX. Ni/SOH@zeolite-Y was used as a multi-functional and highly active nanocatalyst for the three-component synthesis of 3-benzimidazolyl-1,3-thiazolidin-4-ones and new 3-benzthiazoleyl-1,3-thiazolidin-4-ones cyclocondensation of 2-aminobenzimidazole or 2-aminobenzothiazole, aromatic aldehydes and thioglycolic acid in acetone-HO at room temperature.
