A case of NDM-1-positive Kottbus, Denmark, November 2020.

Euro Surveill

July 2021

Department of Microbiology and Infection Control, Statens Serum Institut, Copenhagen, Denmark.

We present a case of carbapenemase-producing NDM-1-positive Kottbus in an 82-year-old Danish man. The NDM-1 was also identified in and in the same patient on the same 43 kb IncN2 plasmid, suggesting in vivo inter-species plasmid transfer. A NCBI BLAST analysis of the plasmid (pAMA003584_NDM-1) identified 12 highly similar plasmids, all originating from east and south-east Asia.

Objectives: The study aimed to investigate the prevalence and epidemiological characteristics of blaNDM-1 (encoding New Delhi metallo-β-lactamase 1) in Enterobacteriaceae and the Acinetobacter calcoaceticus-Acinetobacter baumannii complex (ABC) in China from July 2011 to June 2012.

Methods: PCR was used to screen for the presence of blaNDM-1 in all organisms studied. For blaNDM-1-positive strains, 16S rRNA analysis and Analytical Profile Index (API) strips were used to identify the bacterial genus and species.

Genetic characteristics of blaNDM-1-positive plasmid in Citrobacter freundii isolate separated from a clinical infectious patient.

J Med Microbiol

September 2013

Department of Infectious Diseases, Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, College of Medicine, Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, Zhejiang 310016, PR China.

This study reports an infectious case involving an (NDM-1)-producing Citrobacter freundii and further explored the potential threat of the bla(NDM-1) gene by analysing the characteristics of the (NDM-1)-encoding plasmid sequence. A bla(NDM-1)-positive C. freundii with high resistance to carbapenems was separated from a clinical patient suffering from a urinary tract infection.

Genetic features of blaNDM-1-positive Enterobacteriaceae.

Antimicrob Agents Chemother

November 2011

Service de Bactériologie-Virologie, Hôpital de Bicêtre, 78 rue du Général Leclerc, 94275 Le-Kremlin-Bicêtre cedex, France.

Genetic features associated with the bla(NDM-1) gene were investigated in 6 Escherichia coli, 7 Klebsiella pneumoniae, 1 Citrobacter freundii, 1 Proteus mirabilis, and 1 Providencia stuartii isolate of worldwide origin. Clonal diversity was observed for both E. coli and K.
