In northern Canada, medical travel - the movement of patients to a larger centre to access healthcare services outside their home community - is a dominant feature of the healthcare system. This qualitative study explored the medical travel experiences of Gwich'in living above the Arctic Circle in the Gwich'in Settlement Area in Northwest Territories (NT). Data collection in 2020 comprised storytelling sessions with 10 Gwich'in medical travellers (6 female, 4 male).

The purpose of this article is to share our story of conceptualizing Indigenous early relational wellbeing (ERW), specifically reflecting American Indian and Alaska Native worldviews. Our approach is grounded in Indigenous methodologies and guided by a Community of Learning comprised of Indigenous and allied Tribal early childhood community partners, researchers, practitioners, and federal funders. We describe the steps we took to conceptualize caregiver-child relationships from an Indigenous perspective, center Indigenous values of child development, apply an established Indigenous connectedness framework to early childhood, and co-create a conceptual model of Indigenous ERW to guide future practice and research.

Global public health recommendations for optimal infant nutrition include exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months of life. Breastfeeding has several benefits; however, breastfeeding initiation rates and duration remain below recommendations in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. Sandy Lake First Nation is particularly interested in understanding infant feeding experiences of community members to support increased breastfeeding initiation and duration.
