Objective: To determine the effectiveness of different concentrations of lauromacrogol injections for the treatment of endometriosis in an experimental animal model and to provide an experimental basis for a pre-clinical application of the drug.

Methods: After autologous transplantation of endometrial tissue, 40 endometrial cysts were successfully established and randomly divided into three groups: a 1 % lauromacrogol injection group, a 0.5 % lauromacrogol injection group, and cysts without intervention (control group). We measured the changes in the volumes of the cysts in each group. We then compared the volumes of the endometrial implants before and after treatment and between the different groups and examined the histological findings.

Results: A significant difference in the spherical volume was found between the 1 % lauromacrogol injection group (P < 0.05). No significant difference was observed between the volume of the endometrial implants in the 0.5 % lauromacrogol injection group (P > 0.05). Regarding the histopathological observations, in the 1 % lauromacrogol injection group, the epithelia of the cystic implants had atrophied, and the glands had atrophied and were reduced in number. The surrounding stromal tissue had become loose and edematous.

Conclusions: A 1 % lauromacrogol injection produced significant regression of the endometrial foci compared with a 0.5 % lauromacrogol injection or no treatment in a rat model of endometriosis.

Liposuction has been popular with the public since its inception. The fat accumulated in the body is sucked outside the body through negative pressure suction, thereby reducing the fat cells in the body and achieving the effect of local plasticity. Although liposuction is a relatively safe procedure, due to the lack of correct judgment of the patient's condition and treatment by quite a few cosmetic practitioners, the complications of liposuction are gradually increasing.

Objective: A single-center retrospective cohort study was conducted to identify potential risk factors that lead to increased incidence of intravascular coagulum (IC) observed in clinical practice using polidocanol endovenous microfoam (PEM 1%, Varithena [polidocanol injectable microfoam], Boston Scientific, Marlborough, Mass).

Methods: Patients ( = 119) who received polidocanol endovenous microfoam (PEM) treatment for chronic venous insufficiency between December 2021 and January 2024 at a private outpatient vascular surgery clinic were observed to identify potential risk factors in the development of IC. The patients were stratified into two groups: IC ( = 16) versus non-IC ( = 103).

Article Synopsis
  • Aneurysmal bone cysts (ABCs) are benign but locally aggressive tumors commonly found in the metaphysis of long bones, particularly in children.
  • A 10-year-old girl with recurring shoulder discomfort was diagnosed with an ABC in her proximal humerus and treated with polidocanol sclerotherapy, resulting in significant symptom improvement without complications.
  • After two years of follow-up, the patient showed continued improvement with no signs of cyst recurrence, indicating that percutaneous sclerotherapy can effectively treat ABCs.
