Approximately 50% of Japanese individuals who develop venous thrombosis have reduced activities of protein S, the major component of the Activated Protein C (APC) anticoagulant system. The significance of the measurement of protein S-specific activity and its practical use will be discussed.

Background: COVID-19 mRNA vaccines have demonstrated 95 % efficacy in the general population. However, their immunogenicity in adolescents with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D), who exhibit weaken immune responses, remains insufficiently explored.
Methods: Longitudinal analysis of innate immune responses following PRR-agonists and BNT162b2 vaccine stimulations, along with S-specific antibody responses, memory T cell recall responses, and RNA-sequencing were assessed in eight T1D adolescents and 16 healthy controls at six different timepoints.

Rett syndrome (RS) is a rare neurodevelopmental disorder primarily caused by mutations in the X-linked methyl-CpG binding protein 2 (MECP2) gene, responsible for encoding MECP2 which plays a pivotal role in regulating gene expression. The neurological and non-neurological manifestations of RS vary widely in severity depending on the specific mutation type. Bone complications, mostly scoliosis but also osteoporosis, hip displacement, and a high rate of fractures, are among the most prevalent non-neurological comorbidities observed in girls with RS.

In this research, a hollow mesoporous responsive nanomotor was proposed for enhanced photothermal/immunotherapy under near infrared (NIR) irradiation. HA-HMCuS/AS as the nanomotor composed of hollow mesoporous copper sulfide (HMCuS) loaded with artesunate (AS) and hyaluronic acid (HA) was utilized to induce the polarization of tumor-associated macrophages. At the beginning, ResNet18 deep learning model was utilized to predict the Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area of HMCuS based on the morphology data set which was obtained from our conventional research.

Background: Preoperative anxiety is common and most patients experiencing preoperative anxiety would welcome support to cope with their anxiety. Studies examining the effectiveness of information to reduce anxiety have been inconsistent. In addition, it is unclear whether results reported to be statistically significant are also clinically relevant.

Background: Healthcare transition (HCT) is the process of moving a patient from pediatric, parent-supervised care to an independent, adult-centered model. This study assesses current HCT activities and explores the educational and system-based needs for effective HCT processes in a single institution.
Methods: We interviewed division/care program leaders at one academic tertiary-care children's hospital regarding HCT practices.
