Starting from the extension to complex arguments of the ordinary Fourier transform (FT) (due to Paley and Wiener) and from results concerning reproducing kernels in Hilbert spaces, we define a new, to the best of our knowledge, class of partially coherent planar sources presenting a structured degree of coherence. Such sources are shown to be of the Schell-model type as far as one of the transverse coordinates is concerned, while they depend on the average value of the orthogonal coordinate of the two points. Some examples are shown in detail, but the proposed approach can be easily extended to infinitely many other sources.

Background: The integration of connected medical devices (MDs) into health care brings benefits but also introduces new, often challenging-to-assess risks related to cybersecurity, which have the potential to harm patients. Current regulations in the European Union and the United States mandate the consideration of these risks in the benefit-risk analysis (BRA) required for MD approval. This important step in the approval process weighs all the defined benefits of a device with its anticipated risks to ensure that the product provides a positive argument for use.

Background: Deliberate self-harm (DSH) by poisoning is a significant public health concern worldwide. This study aimed to analyze the demographic, socioeconomic, and psychological factors contributing to self-harm by poisoning in patients admitted to a tertiary care hospital in Sri Lanka.

The article addresses the British sanitary movement in the 1830s and 1840s, analyzing the ideology that permeated official efforts to promote public health. The sources used consist primarily of the inquiries carried out by royal commissions into the state of sanitation in towns and cities. The main argument is that the ideological assumptions underpinning these inquiries can be understood as part of a political economy of public health, within which tensions can be observed arising from the contradictions between a liberal perspective and the need for greater intervention on the part of the government.
