We demonstrate multilevel data storage in organic ferroelectric resistive memory diodes consisting of a phase-separated blend of P(VDF-TrFE) and a semiconducting polymer. The dynamic behaviour of the organic ferroelectric memory diode can be described in terms of the inhomogeneous field mechanism (IFM) model where the ferroelectric components are regarded as an assembly of randomly distributed regions with independent polarisation kinetics governed by a time-dependent local field. This allows us to write and non-destructively read stable multilevel polarisation states in the organic memory diode using controlled programming pulses. The resulting 2-bit data storage per memory element doubles the storage density of the organic ferroelectric resistive memory diode without increasing its technological complexity, thus reducing the cost per bit.

Non-volatile electronic memory elements are very attractive for applications, not only for information storage but also in logic circuits, sensing devices and neuromorphic computing. Here, a ferroelectric film of guanine nucleobase is used in a resistive memory junction sandwiched between two different ferromagnetic films of Co and CoCr alloys. The magnetic films have an in-plane easy axis of magnetization and different coercive fields whereas the guanine film ensures a very long spin transport length, at 100 K.

Two-dimensional (2D) organic-inorganic hybrid metal halides (OIMHs), characterized by noncentrosymmetric structures arising from the incorporation of chiral organic molecules that break inversion symmetry, have attracted significant attention. Particularly, chiral-polar 2D OIMHs offer a unique platform for multifunctional applications, as the coexistence of chirality and polarity enables the simultaneous manifestation of distinct properties such as nonlinear optical (NLO) effects, circular dichroism (CD), and ferroelectricity. In this study, we report the first synthesis of hafnium (Hf)-based chiral 2D OIMHs, achieved through the strategic incorporation of -substituents on the benzene ring of chiral organic components.

The locomotion of various organisms relies on the alternated elongation-contraction of their muscles or bodies. Such biomimicry can offer a promising approach to developing soft robotic devices with improved mobility and efficiency. Most strategies to mimic such motions rely on reversible size modifications of some materials upon exposure to external stimuli.

Chiral hybrid organic-inorganic metal halides (HOMHs) hold great promise in broad applications ranging from ferroelectrics, spintronics to nonlinear optics, owing to their broken inversion symmetry and tunable chiroptoelectronic properties. Typically, chiral HOMHs are constructed by chiral organic cations and metal anion polyhedra, with the latter regarded as optoelectronic active units. However, the primary design approaches are largely constrained to regulation of general components within structural formula.

Organic-inorganic hybrid ferroelectrics have attracted considerable attention due to their outstanding piezoelectricity, mechanical flexibility, and robust nonlinear optical properties. But the species with above room-temperature (RT) ferroelectricity, visible-light bandgap, and high photoelectric performance are still scarce. Herein, a novel organic-inorganic hybrid ferroelectric [CNH][SbI] has been synthesized hydrothermally and employed as a light-absorbing layer in organic-inorganic hybrid solar cells.
