Purpose: To assess choroidal inflammation-related circulatory changes associated with the anterior recurrence of Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada (VKH) disease, using indocyanine green angiography (ICGA) and laser speckle flowgraphy (LSFG).

Methods: This retrospective case series included 17 eyes of 11 patients with VKH disease showing recurrent inflammatory findings in the anterior, but not posterior, segment (i.e. anterior recurrence). Indocyanine green angiography (ICGA) and LSFG were performed at the time of recurrence and one month after the initiation of corticosteroid therapy. The number and total area of hypofluorescent dark dots (HDDs) on ICGA were independently counted by three physicians and measured with ImageJ, respectively. Mean blur rate (MBR), a quantitative index of relative blood flow velocity, was calculated via the LSFG Analyzer software.

Results: Hypofluorescent dark dots (HDDs) were identified on ICGA in 13 of 17 eyes (76%) with the anterior recurrence of VKH disease. The number and total area of HDDs significantly decreased from 203 ± 101 dots to 59 ± 51 dots and from 48 789 ± 24 251 pixels to 15 664 ± 13 254 pixels, respectively. The change ratio of MBR significantly increased by 17.9 ± 16.3% after the treatment. Importantly, there was no significant association between the change ratios of HDDs and MBR.

Conclusions: These findings on LSFG and ICGA clearly demonstrated subclinical involvement as well as post-treatment improvement of choroidal circulation impairment due to granulomatous inflammation in eyes with the anterior recurrence of VKH disease. The present data suggest the validity of using these two examinations, capable of detecting different circulatory changes, in the management of recurrent VKH disease.

Background: Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy for rectal cancer improves surgical outcomes and reduces recurrence but can cause low anterior resection syndrome (LARS), affecting quality of life. This study aims to predict the risk of LARS in male patients with mid-low rectal cancer after laparoscopic total mesorectal excision (TME).

Methods: Clinical data from 203 male patients with mid-low rectal cancer who underwent neoadjuvant therapy and laparoscopic resection were collected.

Preserflo MicroShunt (PMS) implantation is a minimally invasive surgical procedure for treating glaucoma. Postoperative hypotony, a common complication of PMS implantation, can be prevented and treated with 10-0 nylon insertion. In this report, we present a case of postoperative hypotony following PMS implantation that was treated with intraluminal insertion of 9-0 nylon.

Purpose: To assess the safety and efficacy of flush endovenous laser ablation (fEVLA) in the treatment of chronic venous insufficiency.

Materials And Methods: Following the PRISMA 2020 guidelines, a systematic review aiming to identify studies published from inception to March 2024 was conducted. The investigation covered single-arm studies and studies comparing fEVLA to standard EVLA (sEVLA).

Robot-Assisted Laparoscopic Sacrohysteropexy with Autologous Fascia Lata.

Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Monash University, Clayton, VIC, 3168, Australia.

Introduction And Hypothesis: Autologous fascia lata has been increasingly utilised in pelvic floor reconstructive surgeries such as sacrocolpopexy and sacrohysteropexy. This case highlights sacrohysteropexy with autologous fascia lata as a promising option for women with advanced uterovaginal prolapse who wish to preserve their uterus and avoid synthetic mesh.

Methods: We report the case of a 65-year-old woman with stage 3 pelvic organ prolapse following one forceps and one spontaneous vaginal delivery.

We describe a novel technique for recurrent pterygium and assess the advantage of properties of extended tenonectomy, amniotic membrane transplantation, and limbal epithelial transplantation in terms of recurrence rate, postoperative symptoms, postoperative orthoptics, and other complications. A total of nine eyes with recurrent pterygium underwent PERMISLET, i.e.
