We discuss a way to exploit conformal mapping to study the response of a finite metallic film of arbitrary shape to an external electromagnetic field at finite frequencies. This provides a simple way to understand different physics issues and provides insights that include the issue of vorticity and eddy current and the nature of the divergent electric field at the boundaries and at corners. We study an example of an equilateral triangular plate and find good agreement with results obtained with traditional numerical techniques.

Background: E2814 is a humanized monoclonal antibody that recognizes the microtubule-binding region (MTBR) of tau, a region of the protein essential for filament formation and propagation in neurodegenerative diseases. Epitope mapping showed that E2814 binds to a specific sequence motif HVPGG in the MTBR. To elucidate the atomic interactions of E2814-tau binding, we performed X-ray crystallography studies with E2814 and various tau peptides containing the HVPGG motif.

Background: This is a multicentre, European, prospective trial evaluating the diagnostic accuracy of One Step Nucleic Acid Amplification (OSNA) compared to sentinel lymph nodes histopathological ultrastaging in endometrial cancer patients.
Methods: Centres with expertise in sentinel lymph node mapping in endometrial cancer patients in Europe will be invited to participate in the study. Participating units will be trained on the correct usage of the OSNA RD-210 analyser and nucleic acid amplification reagent kit LYNOAMP CK19 E for rapid detection of metastatic nodal involvement, based on the cytokeratin 19 (CK19) mRNA detection.

Allosteric regulation of ADAMTS13 (A Disintegrin And Metalloproteinase with ThromboSpondin type-1 motif, member 13) activity involves an interaction between its Spacer (S) and CUB1-2 domains to keep the enzyme in a closed, latent conformation. Monoclonal antibodies (mAb) uncouple the S-CUB interaction to open the ADAMTS13 conformation and thereby disrupt the global enzyme latency. The molecular mechanism behind this mAb-induced allostery remains poorly understood.

We demonstrate that a short oligonucleotide complementary to a G-quadruplex domain can invade this iconic, noncanonical DNA secondary structure in ways that profoundly influence the properties and differential occupancies of the resulting DNA polymorphic products. Our spectroscopic mapping of the conformational space of the associated reactants and products, both before and after strand invasion, yield unanticipated outcomes which reveal several overarching features. First, strand invasion induces the disruption of DNA secondary structural elements in both the invading strand (which can assume an iDNA tetrad structure) and the invaded species (a G-quadruplex).

Background: Since their domestication, recent inbreeding together with intensive artificial selection and population bottlenecks have allowed the prevalence of deleterious mutations and the increase of runs-of-homozygosity (ROH) in domestic pigs. This makes pigs a good model to understand the genetic underpinnings of inbreeding depression.
Results: Here we integrated a comprehensive dataset comprising 7239 domesticated pigs and wild boars genotyped by single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) chips, along with phenotypic data encompassing growth, reproduction and disease-associated traits.
