Objectives: This study aimed to analyze the impact of sleep bruxism (SB) on electromyography (EMG) activity and the thickness of the masseter and temporal and maximal molar bite force.
Method: Ninety individuals, aged between 18 and 45 years, were selected and divided into two groups: Group I (case group, 45 individuals with SB) and Group II (control group, 45 individuals without SB). A diagnosis of SB was made from polysomnography.
Results: The data obtained from EMG and the muscle thickness and the maximal molar bite force were tabulated (SPSS 21.0), normalized, and subjected to statistical analysis (p ≤ 0.05). Comparisons between the groups showed significant differences regarding the habitual chewing of hard food for the left temporalis muscle (p = 0.04) and the chewing of soft food for the right masseter muscle (p = 0.04), but no significant differences for the measurements of muscle thickness and maximal molar bite force.
Discussion: The present data suggest that SB negatively altered the masticatory muscles' functions. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that individuals with SB showed decreased EMG activity in the masticatory muscles.

Accurate and selective monitoring of thiamine levels in multivitamin supplements is essential for preventing deficiencies and ensuring product quality. To achieve this, a Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) system using carbon dots (CDs) as energy donors and citrate-stabilized silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) as energy acceptors was developed. The aqueous synthesis of AgNPs using microwave irradiation was optimized to obtain efficient plasmonic nanoparticles for FRET applications, targeting maximal absorbance intensity, stability, and wavelength alignment.

Occlusion plays a crucial role in the long-term success and functionality of dental restorations. The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in occlusal contacts upon the cementation of zirconia crowns with different cement spacer settings in computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) software (3Shape Dental System version 2.102.

Background: Rotations are frequently evaluated through various assessment methods of crowding and arch dimension, with relatively few studies discussing the extent or direction of rotations and even fewer addressing the reliability of such assessments. This systematic review aims to comprehensively analyze existing classification systems for rotated teeth and assess rotation in anterior and posterior teeth, its clinical applicability, and its impact on retention and relapse.
Search Methods: Two investigators conducted a comprehensive search in six databases, namely, PubMed, Scopus, Ovid, LILACS, Web of Science, and Cochrane CENTRAL, up to 28 March 2024.

Background: Rehabilitation of endodontically treated teeth with large coronal destruction is still a clinical challenge. No established guidelines specify where a conventional crown with fiber-reinforced composite (FRC) post-and-resin core or an endocrown (EC) is indicated and which material or pulpal extension should be used.
Objective: To provide evidence for restoring severely damaged maxillary first molar (MFM) by comparing the fracture and debonding resistance after being restored with the ceramic EC and the conventional zirconia crown and FRC post-and-resin core.

An interesting platform for the construction of novel ,'-bis(2-(arylazo)-2-(aroyl)vinyl)ethane-1,2-diamines is reported in this work. These bis-arylazo compounds were assembled based on the reaction of ethylenediamine with various 2-arylhydrazono-3-oxopropanals in aqueous conditions under both conventional stirring and microwave conditions at ambient temperature. The factors affecting the optimization conditions were intensively practiced.
