Intratracheal tumor is a rare tumor, accounting for only 2% of upper respiratory tract neoplasms. Its symptoms are similar to those of head and neck cancers, including coughing up blood, sore throat, and airway obstruction. The diagnosis of this disease is often based on the findings of fibrobronchoscopy or computed tomography (CT). Surgery remains the treatment of choice for tracheal tumor. In patients with benign neoplasms or if the tumors have limited involvement, fibrobronchoscopic resection of the tumor can be performed. For malignant tumors, however, radical resection is required. In the past, open incision is used during the surgery for tumors located in thoracic trachea. Along with advances in video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS) minimally invasive techniques and devices, VATS resection and reconstruction of the trachea can achieve the radical resection of the tumor and meanwhile dramatically reduce the injury to the patients. In this article we describe the application of VATS resection and reconstruction of trachea in the management of a tracheal neoplasm.

Objective: The impact of suture materials on surgical site infections (SSIs) has been well documented in various surgical fields; however, it has not been thoroughly examined in oral oncological surgery with free-flap reconstruction. This study aimed to evaluate the incidence of oral SSIs associated with the use of monofilament and braided sutures for flap fixation.
Methods: A retrospective chart review of patients who underwent oral oncological resection with free-flap reconstruction was conducted between May 2020 and April 2024.

Case: Heterotopic ossification (HO) is a relatively rare but severe clinical finding around the hip joint, characterized by the formation of extraskeletal bone in soft tissue. We present the case of a 66-year-old man with a severe, painful gait disorder caused by extensive neurogenic bilateral HO. In this case, due to the medial HO localization, we performed a staged bilateral, combined HO resection and total hip arthroplasty using the single medial Ludloff approach.

Case: The effective reconstruction and functional restoration of the shoulder joint after surgical treatment of shoulder girdle tumors, especially those involving resection of the glenoid, poses significant challenges. Reconstruction methods include allograft reconstruction and shoulder prosthesis. In this report, we present 2 cases of scapulectomy for tumors involving the glenoid, followed by shoulder reconstruction using custom-designed reverse shoulder prostheses that are partially fixed to the clavicle.

Purpose Of Review: In low-grade glioma (LGG), besides the patient's neurological status and tumor characteristics on neuroimaging, current treatment guidelines mainly rely on the glioma's genetics at diagnosis to define therapeutic strategy, usually starting with surgical resection. However, this snapshot in time does not take into account the antecedent period of tumor progression and its interactions with the brain before presentation. This article reviews new concepts that pertain to reconstruct the history of previous interplay between the LGG's course and adaptive changes in the connectome within which the glioma is embedded over the years preceding the diagnosis.

Purpose: Current scapular free flap (SFF) harvest in mandibular reconstruction often requires repositioning, hindering simultaneous harvest and resection and potentially increasing ischemic time. This study evaluated the efficacy of the pull-through technique (PTT) for SFF harvest, aiming to reduce ischemic time during mandibular segmental resection.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 24 patients who underwent mandibular reconstruction using SFF at two maxillofacial surgery departments between January 2015 and May 2022.
