Les professionnels de la santé sont des agents moraux dont la relation fiduciaire avec le public est animée par la responsabilité et la promesse de puiser dans leurs connaissances et leurs habiletés pour aider les personnes sous leurs soins. Lorsque leur capacité à tenir cette promesse est freinée ou compromise, ils risquent de souffrir de détresse morale. Le concept de détresse morale est défini et mis en contexte dans le milieu de la santé. Les contraintes et les facteurs qui en sont à l'origine sont présentés, de même que les moyens utilisés par les professionnels de la santé et les organisations de santé pour la soulager. Un changement transformateur s'impose pour vaincre la culture du silence et maintenir un système de santé où il est possible de vivre avec sa conscience.

In three studies (total N = 622), the effects of threat to control on subsequent moral judgement were examined. After recalling a lack-of-control experience, participants evaluated the morality of a protagonist's decisions in a series of incongruent moral dilemmas. We found that a control-threatening reminder made moral judgements more utilitarian on the deontological-utilitarian dimension, which is consistent with the control motivation theory.

In baker's yeast, genes encoding ribosomal proteins often exist as duplicate pairs, typically with one 'major' paralog highly expressed and a 'minor' less expressed paralog that undergoes controlled expression through reduced splicing efficiency. In this study, we investigate the regulatory mechanisms controlling splicing of the minor paralog of the uS4 protein gene (RPS9A), demonstrating that its splicing is repressed during vegetative growth but upregulated during meiosis. This differential splicing of RPS9A is mediated by two transcription factors, Rim101 and Taf14.
