Published: December 2016

Background: Lactare dehydrogenase (LDH) has been proven to be a prognostic and a potential pro-tumor factor in patients with lung cancer. But the prognostic value of serum LDH in small cell lung cancer (SCLC) has not been quantified systematically.

Objective: Thus, this study was to evaluate the correlations between serum LDH and overall survival of SLCLC by systematic review with meta-analysis.

Methods: PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, Web of Science databases were searched from inception to October 2014 and references in those publications would be included if the association between serum LDH and overall survival of SCLC can be derived. Quality assessment and data extraction were performed in the articles selected according to inclusion and exclusion criteria.

Results: Twenty-eight studies including 4785 patients with SCLC were deemed eligible. Pooled results showed that SCLC patients with elevated LDH levels were associated with an increased hazard ratio (HR 1.45, 95%CI 1.27∼ 1.66) of overall survival.

Conclusions: The study suggests significant correlations between elevated serum LDH levels and poor overall survival in patients with SCLC. And serum LDH levels can be measured combining with other tools for assessing the risk stratification and prognosis of SCLC, which shows directions for treatments of SCLC.

Background: The prognostic significance of the chemokine receptor CCR7 in diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) has been reported previously. However, the detailed mechanisms of CCR7 in DLBCL, particularly regarding its interaction with lenalidomide treatment, are not fully understood.

Methods: Our study utilized bioinformatics approaches to identify hub genes in SU-DHL-2 cell lines treated with lenalidomide compared to control groups.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Ischemic stroke (IS) is a major cause of mortality. Inflammation exerts an essential part of brain-heart communication after IS. Naoxintong capsules (NXT), derived from the classical Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulation Bu-Yang-Huan-Wu-Tang, are extensively employed in China to manage IS, myocardial infarction (MI), and atherosclerosis.

Background: High-temperature environment can cause acute kidney injury affecting renal filtration function. To study the mechanism of renal injury caused by heat stress through activates TLR4/NF-κB/NLRP3 signaling pathway by disrupting the filtration barrier in broiler chickens. The temperature of broilers in the TN group was maintained at 23 ± 1 °C, and the HS group temperature was maintained at 35 ± 1℃ from the age of 21 days, and the high temperature was 10 h per day, and one broiler from each replicate group at the age of 35 and 42 days was selected for blood sampling, respectively.

Background: Acute ischemia in the hind extremities is a dangerous disease that causes irreversible damage. Revascularization procedures are important to prevent muscle damage, but these treatments may induce additional damage, also known as ischemia-reperfusion injury. The role of free radicals as pivotal mediators of ischemia-reperfusion injury remains a prominent hypothesis.

Ethnopharmacological Relevance: Vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC) is a relatively common fungal infectious disease in the female reproductive tract. The pathogenesis of VVC not only involves Candida albicans (C. albicans) infection, but also the improper immune response of the vaginal mucosal immune system to the fungus.
