Objective: To understand the couple's perspective, the experience of prevention care against the vertical transmission of HIV.
Method: Heidegger's phenomenological research conducted with 14 participants, through interviews from December / 2011 to February / 2012 in a hospital in the countryside of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Analysis performed with Martin Heidegger's framework. RESULTS the being-couple unveiled the sense of fear, initially in the variation of dread when terrified due to the HIV infection discovery, and later in the horror variation when treatment was needed during gestation and finally in the terror variation when considering the chances of viral transmission to their child.
Conclusions: Health care attention that enables the couple to assume a leading role in the prophylaxis of vertical transmission is recommended, which will reflect positively on the health of pregnant women and in reducing neonatal and infant mortality as a result from AIDS.

Purpose: Worsening sagittal alignment of the spine, particularly kyphosis, may cause difficulty in assuming a supine position, restricting sleeping posture and movement and potentially leading to sleep disturbances. However, no studies have explored the relationship between sagittal spinal alignment and sleep disturbance. This study aimed to clarify the relationship between sagittal spinal alignment and sleep disturbance.

In the UK, up to 700 people with HIV give birth annually; the majority are Black African migrant cisgender women. Infant-feeding decisions for parents with HIV are complex, requiring parents to weigh-up the small risk of HIV transmission via breastmilk and UK guidelines recommending formula milk, against strong personal and societal expectations to breastfeed. We explored this situation in a qualitative study.

Ships generate large amounts of air pollutants, including nitrogen dioxide (NO) that profoundly impacts air quality and poses serious threats to human health. It is crucial to understand the dynamics and drivers of ship-induced NO concentrations in China to support the prevention and control of fine particulate matter (PM) and ozone (O) pollution. This study built Generalized Additive Models (GAMs) to reveal the nonlinear effects of meteorological factors and ship emissions on ship-induced NO concentrations based on the Tropospheric Monitoring Instrument (TROPOMI) satellite data, AIS based emission model and meteorological data.

This study examined the impact of long-term manure organic fertilizer application (3, 8, 13, 18, and 22 years) on soil physicochemical properties, heavy metal (HM) accumulation, and microbial communities. Long-term manure application markedly elevated nutrient levels such as available N, P and K, and organic matter content in surface and soil profile. Total and DTPA-HM content in different vertical profiles increased with the application time.

No cost-effectiveness information of preventive strategies for mother-to-child transmission (MTCT) of hepatitis B virus (HBV) has existed for policy decision making. This study aimed to compare the cost-effectiveness of alternative strategies to prevent MTCT of HBV in Vietnam. Cost-utility analysis using a hybrid decision-tree and Markov model were performed from healthcare system and societal perspectives.
