Chronic pruritus carries a significant burden of disease and is associated with a negative impact on quality of life. African Americans are disproportionately burdened by chronic pruritic disorders, including but not limited to atopic dermatitis, prurigo nodularis, inflammatory scalp dermatoses, pathologic scarring, and HIV-related dermatoses. Racial differences in skin structure and function may contribute to the pathogenesis of itch in African Americans.

Dear Editor, Cutaneous leiomyomas (CL) are rare, benign smooth muscle tumors of the skin (1). There are 3 subtypes with different origins and histopathologic features: piloleiomyoma, genital leiomyoma, and angioleiomyoma (2). Pilar leiomyoma is the most common subtype originating from arrector pili muscles of pilosebaceous unit.

Keloidal morphea is a rare variant of scleroderma, which often can be clinically confused with keloid or scar formation. We report a 34-year-old woman with a medical history of asthma and Raynaud's phenomenon, presented for the evaluation and management of multiple erythematous hyperpigmented annular plaques reportedly developed after taking trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole. An initial skin biopsy showed findings supportive of a drug eruption.
