Calcium fluoride-like materials ("CaF2") formed on dental surfaces after professional fluoride application are unstable in the oral environment but can be retained longer with a daily NaF mouthrinse. We tested the effect of twice daily 0.05% NaF rinses on the retention of "CaF2" formed on enamel and dentine after applying acidulated phosphate fluoride (APF). "CaF2" formed on enamel/dentine by APF application significantly decreased after exposure to artificial saliva and the 0.05% NaF rinse was ineffective to avoid this reduction. These findings suggest that the combination of APF and 0.05% NaF is not clinically relevant, either for caries or dental hypersensitivity.

In the process of zinc hydrometallurgy, the content of fluorine in zinc sulfate solution directly affects the stripping of the zinc plate, which easily leads to the deterioration of working conditions. It not only has a serious impact on the entire zinc hydrometallurgical system but also causes huge economic losses. Especially in the process of zinc secondary resource utilization, the concentration of fluoride ions in the electrolyte exceeds the control standard of smelting enterprises, which has become a long-term technical challenge in the smelting industry.

1,3,5-trinamino-2,4,6-trinitrobenzene (TATB) as an important insensitive high explosive has excellent safety performance due to strong hydrogen bonds. Ionic impurities including sulfate ions (SO), nitrate ions (NO) and chloride ions (Cl) formed during the preparation of TATB have negative effects on TATB-based explosives. However, strong hydrogen bonds result in extremely low solubility of TATB in traditional solvents, which poses a huge obstacle to extract and detect the impurities in TATB for quality control.

The formation of non-ion conducting byproducts on zinc anode is notoriously detrimental to aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs). Herein, we successfully transform a representative detrimental byproduct, crystalline zinc hydroxide sulfate (ZHS) to fast-ion conducting solid-electrolyte interphase (SEI) via amorphization and fluorination induced by suspending CaF nanoparticles in dilute sulfate electrolytes. Distinct from widely reported nonhomogeneous organic-inorganic hybrid SEIs that exhibit structural and chemical instability, the designed single-phase SEI is homogeneous, mechanically robust, and chemically stable.

Objectives: To evaluate the mechanical properties, fluoride release, radiopacity, and setting characteristics of dental cements derived from highly reactive ionomer glasses and bottle glass mixtures.
Methods: Two highly reactive glass series, LG99 and LG117, were synthesized, milled, sieved, and characterized using XRD and laser particle size analysis. These glasses were mixed with predetermined ratios of ground bottle glass, poly(acrylic acid), and aqueous tartaric acid to form glass ionomer cements.
