Since World War II, researchers have been interested in exploring the injury mechanisms involved in primary blast on the thorax by using animal model surrogates. These studies were mostly concerned with the finding of the lung injury threshold, the relationship between the physical components of the air blast wave, and the biological response. Studies have also been conducted to investigate the effect of repeated blast exposures on the injury outcome threshold. This has led to several injury criteria, such as the Bowen curves based on pressure history's characteristics or the Axelsson Chest Wall Velocity Predictor that used measurement from the mammals' chest wall. This article aims at doing a critical literature review of this specific topic.

Current and Emerging Therapies for Lysosomal Storage Disorders.

Lysosomal Storage Disorders Unit, Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, University College London, London, NW3 2QG, UK.

Lysosomal storage disorders (LSDs) are rare inherited metabolic disorders characterized by defects in the function of specific enzymes responsible for breaking down substrates within cellular organelles (lysosomes) essential for the processing of macromolecules. Undigested substrate accumulates within lysosomes, leading to cellular dysfunction, tissue damage, and clinical manifestations. Clinical features vary depending on the degree and type of enzyme deficiency, the type and extent of substrate accumulated, and the tissues affected.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) refers to initiatives undertaken by corporations that aim to make a positive impact on society. It is unclear to what extent these aims are achieved in relation to population health. We explored the evidence for mechanisms by which CSR has positive or negative effects on population health through a systematic-narrative hybrid review of 97 relevant articles.

The Valsalva manoeuvre is widely recognised for its effectiveness in reverting supra-ventricular tachycardia (SVT) in patients with good coordination. However, this is not applicable in sedated ventilated patients and there is a dearth of literature regarding the application of Valsalva in unconscious patients on mechanical ventilation. The authors, for the first time, present a novel non-pharmacological method to treat SVT in critically ill patients on mechanical ventilation, employing the high positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) technique.

Aim: To systematically review the prevalence and incidence of osteoporosis, osteopenia, low bone mass, and fragility fracture in adults with cerebral palsy (CP), and identify the risk factors for osteoporosis and fracture.

Method: A systematic literature search was performed in the MEDLINE, PubMed, CINAHL, AMED, Cochrane Reviews, EMBASE, and EBM database reviews from inception until May 2024. Search terms covered a combination of keywords for CP, fracture, osteoporosis, incidence and prevalence, and risk factors.
