Decades of research highlight that differential treatment can have negative developmental consequences, particularly for less favored siblings. Despite this robust body of research, less is known about which children in the family tend to be favored or less favored by parents. The present study examined favored treatment as predicted by birth order, gender, temperament, and personality.

Superatoms are stable clusters that mimic the chemical behavior of individual atoms in the periodic table. Many endeavors have been devoted to the design and characterization of various superatoms, while engineering superatoms to mimic the chemistry of chalcogens remains a challenge. In this paper, we present a new superchalcogen by evaluating a hollow tetrahedral AlO cluster with theoretical calculations.

Introduction: Phenotypic heterogeneity and unpredictability of individual disease progression present enormous challenges in ultrarare renal ciliopathies. The tubular-derived glycoprotein, Dickkopf-related protein 3 (DKK3) is a promising biomarker for kidney fibrosis and prediction of kidney function decline. Here, we measured urinary DKK3 (uDKK3) levels in 195 pediatric patients with renal ciliopathy to assess its potential as a discriminative and prediction marker.

Complexins are a family of small presynaptic proteins that regulate neurotransmitter release at nerve terminals and are highly conserved in evolution. While direct interactions with SNARE proteins are critical for all complexin functions, binding of their disordered C-terminal domains (CTD) to membranes, especially to synaptic vesicle membranes, is essential for the ability of complexin to inhibit vesicle release. Furthermore, while some complexin CTDs possess an endogenous affinity for membranes, other complexin isoforms are subject to lipidation at their C-termini, which is presumed to confer additional membrane binding.

Background: The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination rate among Japanese high school girls remains critically low, reflecting ongoing public apprehension and misinformation. This study explores the relationship between information presentation and attitudes toward HPV vaccination in Japan.
Methods: We conducted a web-based survey of female high school students aged 15 to 16 and mothers of daughters of similar age across Japan.
