Background And Purpose: We explored the impact of various craniotomy approaches on the outcomes and long-term cognitive function of microsurgical clipping for superiorly projecting anterior communicating artery (ACoA) aneurysms.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 127 superiorly projected ACoA aneurysms underwent microsurgical clipping between January 2014 and January 2022. Patients were categorized into two types: type 1 (70 patients), characterized by the posterior positioning of the ipsilateral A2 segment (open A2 plane side), and type 2 (57 patients), characterized by the anterior positioning of the ipsilateral A2 segment (closed A2 plane side).

Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH) is a serious condition complicated by delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI), where inflammation plays a key role. Although altered gut permeability is noted in other conditions, its significance in aSAH remains unclear. Fatty acid-binding protein (FABP-I), lipopolysaccharide-binding protein (LBP), and soluble CD-14 (sCD-14) are established markers of barrier dysfunction.

Takayasu's arteritis (TA) is a systemic vasculitis that primarily affects the aorta and major arteries. Despite aggressive treatment with glucocorticoids (GCs) and non-biological disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (nbDMARDs), about 30% of patients experience resistance to therapy or relapse. This study aimed to identify risk factors associated with refractory and relapse TA in pediatric patients.

Purpose: To determine modifiable and non-modifiable factors contributing to limb loss in PAI the relevance and accuracy of published scoring systems for PAI within a South African State hospital.
Methodology: Retrospective review of patients (> 18 years) with PAI, presenting to CMJAH trauma unit from 1 January 2017 to 31 December 2022.
Results: Sixty-four patient records were analysed.

Objective: The pathophysiology of delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI) is not fully elucidated. The lack of accurate diagnostic tools increases the probability of delayed diagnosis and timely treatment. The authors assessed the relationship of 8-iso-prostaglandin F2α (F2-IsoP) and oxidative stress biomarkers, nitric oxide synthase 3 (NOS3) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH), with DCI after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (aSAH).
