Partial matching of blood group antigens to reduce alloimmunization in Western India.

Red blood cell alloimmunization occurs due to the genetic disparity of red cell antigens between donor and recipient. In the present study, we report a spectrum of red cell alloantibodies characterized in patients with different clinical conditions in a reference center in India. Majority of the antibodies identified were against the blood group antigens c, D, E, M, N, S, s and Jka. Hence, apart from ABO and RhD, we recommend partial antigen matching between donor and patients for other Rh (C, c, E, e) and MNS blood group antigens to potentially reduce the risk of alloimmunization by 75%. Matching of Kell antigen is not recommended in Western India.

The aim of this study is to assess the impact of Tianxiangdan (TXD) on lipophagy in foam cells and its underlying mechanism in treating atherosclerosis, particularly focusing on its efficacy in lowering blood lipids. In vivo, ApoE-/- atherosclerosis mouse models were established for group intervention. Blood lipid levels of the mice were measured, lipid deposition and autophagy levels in atherosclerotic plaques were assessed, and co-localization of lipid droplets and autophagosomes was examined.

This study examined the energy-dependent physiological responses, including stress, innate immune, and antioxidant systems, as well as indicators of energy mobilization, in pacu (Piaractus mesopotamicus) exposed to intermittent cold, aiming to assess the correlations between these responses. The fish were acclimated to 28 °C, divided into two groups, a control group maintained at 28 °C, and another exposed to 16 °C for two 24 h periods with a 5-day interval between them. The fish were sampled at six time points: baseline (after acclimatization to 28 °C), 24 h after the 1st exposure to 16 °C, after 5 days of recovery at 28 °C, 24 h after the 2nd exposure to 16 °C, and after 24 and 48 h of recovery at 28 °C.
