Precapillary artery--arterial (bronchial artery--pulmonay artery) anastomoses, come into play in cases where the locking artery open and alveoli washed arterialized blood. Normally, these anastomoses are closed. Intrapulmonary shunts carry blood supply acinar hinder extraordinary circumstances (chronic pulmonary embolism, surgery, occurring in cardiopulmonary bypass, when the flaw of blood through the Iungs is suspended for the duration of cardiopulmonary bypass). Patients operated on the ascending aorta with the expansion of intervention on the nortic arch during the correction of pathology carry blood supply only the central nervous system. All other organs and systems at this time were protected by mild hypothermia. However, during circulatory arrest, required for correction of pathology acinar damage as a result of hypoxia, probably because there is no blood flow in the pulmonary artery and there is no blood flow in the bronchial arteries. Last, in the ordinary course of artificial circulation, capable due to arterio-arterial pulmonary anastomoses prevent hypoxic damage to acinar, not lead to persistent hypoxemia in the immediate postoperative period in these patients, as a result of violations of lung diffusion capacity.

Transtemporal Endoscopic Deep Plane Face Lift.

Plast Reconstr Surg Glob Open

January 2025

Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Department, Yeditepe University Hospital, Istanbul, Turkey.

Background: Facial aging involves multifactorial changes affecting the bone, superficial musculoaponeurotic system, fat pads, and skin, primarily manifesting as the downward displacement of these structures. The transtemporal endoscopic deep plane face lift (TEDPF) suggests a vertical lifting method, targeting these issues without a preauricular incision.

Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 140 patients (133 women and 7 men) 33-67 years of age who underwent TEDPF from February 2020 to March 2023.

Subcutaneous emphysema results from air or gas being forced into the fascial spaces of subcutaneous tissue. Once the air or gas has entered the fascial spaces, it travels along connective tissue causing a mass effect and swelling. This rare complication usually presents with mild severity during the immediate postoperative period following surgical procedures of the head or neck regions and self-resolves with conservative treatment.

Background: Avascular necrosis (AVN) of the femoral head is a degenerative condition characterized by ischemic bone death, resulting in pain and impaired mobility. Core decompression, a surgical intervention, is widely performed for stage II AVN to alleviate symptoms and delay disease progression. While clinical and radiological outcomes are well-documented, the psychosocial dimensions of recovery remain underexplored.

Background: Long-term survival can be achieved in patients with localized prostate cancer (PCa). Therefore, maintenance of postoperative quality of life (QOL) and treatment satisfaction are important. Although longitudinal changes in disease-specific QOL are reported, there are few studies investigating which factors longitudinally affect treatment satisfaction in patients who undergo robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP).

Surgical treatment of anomalous aortic origin of the coronary artery in paediatric patients: a Chinese single-center experience.

BMC Surg

January 2025

Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Heart Center, School of Medicine, Shanghai Children's Medical Center, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai, China.

Purpose: An anomalous aortic origin of the coronary artery (AAOCA) is a rare congenital heart disease. Some high-risk anatomical structures are at risk of inducing cardiogenic shock or even sudden death. This article summarizes our surgical experience with AAOCA in paediatric patients.
