Hoverflies are essential to ecosystems, with adults serving as important pollinators and larvae preying on plant-feeding insects or recycling nutrients. Species like Sphaerophoria rueppellii are used in biocontrol programs to target aphid pests. To enhance these programs, markers can be used in a mark-release-recapture (MRR) method to track hoverfly feeding and oviposition sites.

Aim: While most splenic ruptures manifest as immediate hemorrhage, a minority of patients experience delayed rupture, which occurs days to weeks after the initial trauma. Although there have been reports of delayed splenic rupture following trauma, the exact pathophysiology of this condition and the appropriate treatment remain contentious. This article aims to further discuss and summarize the diagnosis and treatment protocols for delayed traumatic rupture of the spleen through the collection and analysis of existing clinical data, combined with previous literature.

Intervertebral disc degeneration (IVDD) is a primary contributor to low back pain, posing significant social and economic burdens. Increasing evidence shows that obesity contributes to IVDD, yet the underlying mechanisms remain elusive. Here, we firstly revealed a causal correlation between obesity and IVDD via a two-sample mendelian randomization analysis and identified fatty acid-binding protein 4 (FABP4) as the potential regulator to associate IVDD and obesity.

Background/aims: To investigate the association between plasma metabolomic profiles and treatment response after intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) injections in treatment-naïve neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD).
Methods: This is part of a prospective longitudinal study that included patients with treatment-naïve nAMD who have undergone three loading intravitreal anti-VEGF injections. All patients underwent ophthalmological examinations including spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD OCT).
