Background: Although rare, melanoma confined to the dermis or subcutaneous tissue without evidence of a primary cutaneous site should provoke consideration of melanoma of unknown primary. This diagnosis carries a favorable prognosis when compared with cutaneous metastatic melanoma. Several hypotheses have been proposed for how melanoma of unknown primary develops, two of which were considered in our patient case: (1) spontaneous regression of the primary tumor following metastasis or (2) the traumatic implantation of ectopic melanocytic cells in other tissues, such as the subcutaneous tissue.

Background/aim: To assess the ability of apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) at baseline in predicting overall survival in patients who undergo Y90-radioembolization (Y90-RE) for liver-dominant metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) in the salvage situation.
Patients And Methods: A retrospective review of 411 lesions in 63 patients with refractory mCRC treated with Y90-RE was conducted. Manual region of interest (ROI) measurements were applied using a whole lesion and volume method.

Automated segmentation and detection of tumors in CT scans of the liver and kidney have a significant potential in assisting clinicians with cancer diagnosis and treatment planning. However, current approaches, including state-of-the-art deep learning ones, still face many challenges. Many tumors are not detected by these approaches when tested on public datasets for tumor detection and segmentation such as the Kidney Tumor Segmentation Challenge (KiTS) and the Liver tumor segmentation challenge (LiTS).

Purpose: In laparoscopic liver surgery, registering preoperative CT-extracted 3D models with intraoperative laparoscopic video reconstructions of the liver surface can help surgeons predict critical liver anatomy. However, the registration process is challenged by non-rigid deformation of the organ due to intraoperative pneumoperitoneum pressure, partial visibility of the liver surface, and surface reconstruction noise.
Methods: First, we learn point-by-point descriptors and encode location information to alleviate the limitations of descriptors in location perception.

Objectives: To evaluate liver enhancement and image quality of abdominal CECT examinations acquired with multiple LBW-based contrast medium injection protocols.
Material & Methods: One hundred fifty patients who underwent a clinically indicated CECT examination were prospectively and randomly assigned to one of the following contrast medium injection protocol groups: A, 700 mg iodine(I)/kg of LBW; B, 650 mgI/kg of LBW; and C, 600 mgI/kg of LBW. Liver signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR), and magnitude of contrast enhancement (ΔHU) were calculated.
