This research investigates detectability of a class of mix-valued logical control networks through the application of a Luenberger-like observer. First, three concepts of detectability: detectability, strong detectability, and weak detectability are defined for the mix-valued logical control networks. Subsequently, the equivalent algebraic form of the control networks is obtained to deal with the three kinds of detectability.

Consumer preference study for the interface design of traditional Chinese medicine applications using conjoint analysis method.

Sci Rep

December 2024

College of Furnishings and Industrial Design, Nanjing Forestry University, No.159 Longpan Road, Nanjing, 210037, Jiangsu, China.

The widespread use of mobile applications (apps) offers a new platform for sustaining traditional culture, yet insufficient focus on interface design has hindered user experience. This paper focuses on traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) apps, examining user preferences for interface design elements and their combinations across four dimensions: visual effects, functional attributes, layout, and interaction modes. Utilizing Conjoint Analysis Method (CAM), this study quantitatively explores user preferences for the combination schemes of 18 orthogonal designs.

Research on muck conditioning for EPB shield tunnelling in composite formation.

Sci Rep

School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, East China Jiaotong University, Nanchang, 330013, Jiangxi, People's Republic of China.

Compared with simple formations, EPB (earth pressure balance) shield tunnelling in composite formations encounters severe problems with muck conditioning and require improved muck conditioning technology to fulfil expectations for continuous and efficient excavation. In the Nanchang Metro Line 4 Project, a water-rich sand-argillaceous siltstone composite formation is encountered. With a high moisture content and complex composite formation ratio, it is quite difficult to determine the optimum muck conditioning scheme, and thus, muck spewing accidents frequently occur during the tunnelling process.

Given the increasingly severe environmental challenges, distributed green manufacturing has garnered significant academic and industrial interest. This paper addresses the distributed two-stage flexible job shop scheduling problem (DTFJSP) under time-of-use (TOU) electricity pricing, with the objective of minimizing both makespan and total energy consumption costs (TEC). To tackle the problem, a hybrid memetic algorithm (HMA) is proposed.

Sugarcane is a major industrial crop highly susceptible to parasitic weed (Striga spp.), causing a 38% reduction in cane yield due to a longer lag phase of 20-40 days, and wider spacing. Herbicides with a longer retention and slow-release nature could allow Striga seeds to germinate and be killed before attaching to the host.
