Introduction: Dozens of vaccines have been approved or authorized internationally in response to the ongoing SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, covering a range of modalities and routes of delivery. For example, mucosal delivery of vaccines via the intranasal (i.n.

Objectives: To investigate the protective effect of the probiotic bacterium K12 (K12) against (Mp) infection in mice.
Methods: Forty male BALB/c mice were randomized into normal control group, K12 treatment group, Mp infection group, and K12 pretreatment prior to Mp infection group. The probiotic K12 was administered daily by gavage for 14 days before Mp infection induced by intranasal instillation of Mp.

We previously reported that mice immunized twice with a lipid nanoparticle vaccine comprising four monkeypox viral mRNAs raised neutralizing antibodies and antigen-specific T cells and were protected against a lethal intranasal challenge with vaccinia virus (VACV). Here we demonstrated that the mRNA vaccine also protects mice against intranasal and intraperitoneal infections with monkeypox virus and bioluminescence imaging showed that vaccination greatly reduces or prevents VACV replication and spread from intranasal, rectal, and dermal inoculation sites. A single vaccination provided considerable protection that was enhanced by boosting for at least 4 months.

Objectives: To explore whether electroacupuncture(EA) can increase the expression of suppressor of cytokine signaling (SOCS)3 by affecting the expression of miR-19b-3p, inhibiting the continuous activation of janus kinase (JAK)1 /signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT)3 signaling pathway, and improve pulmonary inflammation in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) mice.
Methods: Forty mice were randomly divided into normal, COPD model, COPD+EA, and COPD+miR-19b-3p agomir (agomir)+EA groups. The COPD model was simulated by cigarette smoke exposure for 1 h, twice a day for 3 months.

Background/objectives: Omicron, the predominant variant of SARS-CoV-2, exhibits strong immune-evasive properties, leading to the reduced efficacy of existing vaccines. Consequently, the development of versatile vaccines is imperative. Intranasal mRNA vaccines offer convenient administration and have the potential to enhance mucosal immunity.
