Stevens-Johnson syndrome and drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms are severe cutaneous adverse reactions to drugs that are generally considered distinct entities. In addition to identifying the offending medication, distinguishing between these diagnoses is important, as they have differing treatment regimens and prognoses. Distinction between severe cutaneous adverse reactions, particularly in the early stages of disease, can be difficult, and overlapping conditions have been reported in the literature.

Facial nerve paralysis (FNP) and ptosis are rare complications of KD and are rarely reported, but FNP is considered a high risk factor for coronary aneurysms.

Visceral disseminated varicella zoster virus (VZV) infection is a severe complication, characterized by a notably high mortality rate. Herein, we present a case of a 36-year-old-man involving visceral disseminated VZV infection that emerged during remission induction therapy involving high-dose prednisolone (PSL), mycophenolate mofetil (MMF), and hydroxychloroquine for lupus nephritis. Two months after starting the immunosuppressive therapy, he experienced a rapid onset of severe upper abdominal pain.
