A critical work of bearing fault diagnosis is locating the optimum frequency band that contains faulty bearing signal, which is usually buried in the noise background. Now, envelope analysis is commonly used to obtain the bearing defect harmonics from the envelope signal spectrum analysis and has shown fine results in identifying incipient failures occurring in the different parts of a bearing. However, the main step in implementing envelope analysis is to determine a frequency band that contains faulty bearing signal component with the highest signal noise level. Conventionally, the choice of the band is made by manual spectrum comparison via identifying the resonance frequency where the largest change occurred. In this paper, we present a squared envelope based spectral kurtosis method to determine optimum envelope analysis parameters including the filtering band and center frequency through a short time Fourier transform. We have verified the potential of the spectral kurtosis diagnostic strategy in performance improvements for single-defect diagnosis using real laboratory-collected vibration data sets.

Live herpesvirus-vectored vaccines are critical in veterinary medicine, but they can sometimes offer insufficient protection due to suboptimal antigen expression or localization. Encephalomyocarditis virus (EMCV) is a significant zoonotic threat, with VP1 protein as a key immunogen on its capsid. To enhance immunogenicity, we explored the use of recombinant pseudorabies virus (rPRV) as a vaccine vector against EMCV.

Introduction: This study aims to evaluate US Department of Defense hospital efficiency.

Methods: Drawing on the American Hospital Association's annual survey data, the study employs data envelopment analysis, slack analysis, and the Malmquist Productivity Index to identify the differences in hospital efficiency between Air Force, Army, and Navy hospitals as well as the trends of their efficiency from 2010 to 2021.

Results: US Department of Defense hospitals operated inefficiently from 2010 to 2021, although the average technical efficiency of all DOD hospitals increased slightly during this period.

Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) is a significant pathogen that exerts substantial economic influence on the global cattle industry. Developing a safe and effective novel vaccine targeting various BVDV subtypes is critical for controlling BVDV infection. In the study, we created two distinct multi-epitope vaccines by linking highly conserved and dominant cytotoxic T-lymphocytes (CTL), helper T-lymphocytes (HTL), and B-cell epitopes from either the E0 or E2 envelope glycoprotein of diverse BVDV subtypes.

The early fault characteristics of rolling bearings are weak, especially in a strong noise environment, which are more difficult to extract; therefore, a method based on wavelet packet decomposition, multi-verse optimizer, and maximum correlated kurtosis deconvolution for weak fault feature extraction of rolling bearings is proposed. First, the original vibration signal is decomposed using wavelet packet decomposition, followed by proposing a signal reconstruction method combining the Pearson correlation coefficient and energy ratio to effectively remove noise from the original signal. Second, the parameters L and M of Maximum Correlated Kurtosis Deconvolution (MCKD) are optimized using the multi-verse optimizer algorithm to obtain optimal filter settings.

Taking a sewage treatment plant in Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, as an example, the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated in the sewage treatment system were calculated using the carbon balance method and the emission factor method. The environmental impacts and economic aspects of different treatment units in wastewater treatment plants were analyzed using life cycle assessment, cost-benefit analysis, and data envelopment analysis models, and emission reduction pathways were proposed. The results indicated that the total GHG emissions (in terms of CO) from a certain municipal wastewater treatment plant in Suzhou were 6 653.
