Hepatitis E Virus (HEV) is a globally widespread pathogen that causes acute hepatitis infection. Beyond hepatic pathogenesis, HEV has been proven to cause several extrahepatic manifestations, such as neurological, renal, and hematological manifestations. It was also associated with mortality in pregnant females.

Background/objectives: Both hyperandrogenism (HA) and vitamin D deficiency (VDD) can separately lead to impaired vascular reactivity and ovulatory dysfunction in fertile females. The aim was to examine the early interactions of these states in a rat model of PCOS.
Methods: Four-week-old adolescent female rats were divided into four groups: vitamin D (VD)-supplemented ( = 12); VD-supplemented and testosterone-treated ( = 12); VDD- ( = 11) and VDD-and-testosterone-treated ( = 11).

Iodine is a key micronutrient essential for the synthesis of thyroid hormone, which regulates metabolic processes and maintains overall health. Despite its importance, iodine deficiency is a global health issue, leading to disorders such as goiter, hypothyroidism, and developmental abnormalities. Biofortification of crops with iodine is a promising strategy to enhance the dietary iodine intake, providing an alternative to iodized salt.

Fasting hyperlipidemia results from lipid metabolism defects associated with alterations in specific lipoprotein classes. These changes may originate from genetic predispositions or underlying metabolic disorders, including cholestasis and endocrine diseases. This retrospective study aimed to analyze variations in lipoprotein electrophoresis (LPE) profiles in hyperlipidemic dogs and investigate the associations between biliary tract diseases, endocrine disorders, and lipid metabolism.

Splenogonadal fusion is a rare congenital anomaly characterized by an unusual linkage between ectopic splenic tissue and the gonad, with a higher prevalence observed in the males. While the majority of the splenogonadal fusion cases are associated with cryptorchidism, the patients may have other congenital malformations such as inguinal hernias. Despite being benign and having a rare occurrence, the preoperative diagnosis of splenogonadal fusion is a challenging one.
