Aim: We hypothesized that delivery of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) in a biomimetic collagen scaffold improves wound healing in a diabetic mouse model.
Materials & Methods: Rolled collagen scaffolds containing MSCs were implanted or applied topically to diabetic C57BL/6 mice with excisional wounds.
Results: Rolled scaffolds were hypoxic, inducing MSC synthesis and secretion of VEGF. Diabetic mice with wounds treated with rolled scaffolds containing MSCs showed increased healing compared with controls. Histologic examination showed increased cellular proliferation, increased VEGF expression and capillary density, and increased numbers of macrophages, fibroblasts and smooth muscle cells. Addition of laminin to the collagen scaffold enhanced these effects.
Conclusion: Activated MSCs delivered in a biomimetic-collagen scaffold enhanced wound healing in a translationally relevant diabetic mouse model.

Purpose: Successful regeneration of cranial defects necessitates the use of porous bone fillers to facilitate cell proliferation and nutrient diffusion. Open porous microspheres, characterized by their high specific surface area and osteo-inductive properties, offer an optimal microenvironment for cell ingrowth and efficient ossification, potentially accelerating bone regeneration.
Materials And Methods: An in vitro investigation was conducted to assess the physicochemical properties, porosity, and biocompatibility of PHA-nano-clay open porous microspheres.

Bone regeneration is a multifaceted process involving the well-coordinated interaction of cellular functions such as the regulation of inflammation, the formation of new blood vessels, and the development of bone tissue. Bone regeneration is a multifaceted process involving the well-coordinated interplay of multiple cellular activities, such as inflammation control, blood vessel and bone tissue. Zhang developed a multifunctional hydrogel system embedded with bone marrow stromal cell-derived exosomes to address the challenges of large bone defects.

Pancreatic cancer, especially pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), is one of the most challenging clinical conditions due to its late-stage diagnosis and poor survival rates. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), used for targeted therapies, are being explored as a promising treatment because of their tumor-homing properties and potential contributions to the pancreatic cancer microenvironment. Understanding these interactions is crucial for developing effective treatments.

Acute lung injury being one of the earliest and most severe complications during sepsis and macrophages play a key role in this process. To investigate the regulatory effects and potential mechanisms of adipose mesenchymal stem cell derived-exosomes (ADSC-exo) on macrophages and septic mice, ADSCs-exo was administrated to both LPS-induced macrophage and cecal ligation and puncture (CLP) induced sepsis mice. ADSCs-exo was confirmed to inhibit M1 polarization of macrophages and to reduce excessive inflammation.

Surgery is considered the gold standard for treating melanoma, but the high recurrence rate after surgery still remains as a major challenge. Therefore, using doxorubicin (DOX) as a model drug, this study investigated the 3D printing of anticancer drug-loaded hydrogel blend scaffolds for inhibiting post-operation melanoma recurrence and for promoting tissue regeneration. Three-dimensional printing could successfully produce methacrylate-modified chitosan (CSMA) and methylcellulose (MC) hydrogel blend scaffolds.
